can they spend an hour practicing the PP the next time they practice, thank you very much

  2. Greenarrowfan

would you rather be losing 5 straight like the jets with Helly in net..

  3. CheesecakeOdd2087

That was one of the most frustrating games of the season.

Like, score a power play goal. Jesus. The reffing was a joke as usual, but we had 3 power plays and did nothing. When the 2nd unit hops over the boards with 45 seconds left it honestly feels like we’re back to playing 5 v 5. The 1st unit can at least get in and snap it around, but they’ve got to start putting the puck on net and generating chances.

You just knew as soon as Dallas got that late PP and started snapping it around that they were going to score.

  4. 21marvel1

Incoming Pettersson complaining fest. An exhausting post game thread tradition

  5. shadownet97

PP: Hughes to Pettersson to Hughes to Pettersson who tries to pass to the bumper and gets intercepted. Tried again. Hughes to miller to Hughes to Petey to Hughes for a shot that other teams have now been able to predict and stop easily. Dumped into our zone.

  6. A lot of playoff games are gonna look like this and the kings game.

Close, tight checking, hard fought games where special teams NEED to be the difference. The refs were out to lunch this game yes, but 0/3 on the power play is the story here.

Hopefully Toch is just keeping some cards close for playoffs and not wanting to give film for other teams.

We looked great 5-on-5, got beat on special teams. Not mad about it.

Boeser-Petey-Hogs was our best line by a lightyear tonight. Boeser and JT have played well together this season but Boeser and Petey have always had chemistry and I’d like to see us continue to check in on that after tonight.

    Quinn Hughes is the GDOAT.

The Canucks are winning the cup.

    Onwards!

  8. prophetofgreed

If I was a Stars fan this game would terrify me.

Only reason they were competitive was with ref help.

    Pathetic showing by the league.

  9. helixflush

We really, really, really need to figure out how to score on the PP.

  10. Superb_Ad_3574

Fucking ref missed 3 then he calls a penalty against us in the final 3 minutes, fuck that ref

  11. Nucks did pretty good without demko and lindholm. The last 9 games should be more tinkering with the PP and resting the big guns

  12. hannah_nj

i know we went 0/3 on the power play, that *was* a high stick at the end, and we are going to deal with poor officiating in the playoffs

but damn that was such a good 5v5 game and i can’t help but feel a little salty at how it was decided

  13. wangsuckwu

Outside of Miller, who else is even a scoring threat on the pp? Petterson has lost his ability to shoot, let alone a one timer.

We don’t have anyone else who has a good enough shot that could make them an option. So that makes it unbelievably easy to defend against. And that’s without mentioning the second unit that’s somehow worse than the first.

Add in a mediocre pk, and I honestly don’t see us getting out of the first round, barring Demko putting the whole team on his back.

  14. phantomgiratina

This is the second failed opportunity to clinch, this homestand has been pretty mid so far going 4-3-1, the best they can do is 5-3-1 which is considered kind of a let down since this home stand was suppose to be their opportunity to be well rested and take a commanding lead

  15. wundervanbar

That’s a solid team in Texas. Full credit to them. They took advantage of their opportunities while we didn’t.

It seems like we’re going to limp into the playoffs rather than storm in which is concerning but please, please remember, we were in NO position to be where we are this year from last year after the DECADE of obscurity.

So I’m chilling, let’s just see how it plays out.

  16. For how good the 5v5 can be, it would be really nice to see the powerplay be just as good. I get that it’s kind of on the players to move their feet, but do you think it might be on the coaches? I think this team would benefit from having a more aggressive powerplay.

  17. slowmo_hummingbird

playoffs is a special teams game. they gotta be less predictable shoot more yada yada

  18. metrichustle

It’s really impressive how fast Oilers have caught up. 6 points back with 2 games in hand. April 13 will be very interesting game.

  19. griebkona

Does Brock ever score in big games. Not sure what his stat is against top tier teams but I do know that I never ever expect him to score a key goal when needed. How many if his goals are against the bottom dwellers

  20. Rahtgooves

As pissed off as I was at the refs in the other thread, you make your own luck sometimes and they really just didn’t with that awful powerplay. I thought they were unlucky in the LA game and moved it well on the pp. Hopefully they can figure it out. If they can, the way they played 5v5, they’ll be a tough out in the playoffs.

  21. It’s kinda in their heads you can see it. They have to “use the force” and “let go” as Obi One would say. I can see Hughes literally playing with doubt suddenly and it’s obvious Demko is the glue that keeps them grounded.

  22. CheesecakeOdd2087

These past couple games are converting me to a Lindholm truther. I really, really hope this isn’t a Tanner Pearson “day to day” situation that turns into the guy being out for the remainder of the year.

  23. It’s special teams, period. Tocchet needs to give up the powerplay. This team should at minimum have a top 10 powerplay with the talent involved. It’s painful to watch. Multiple games lost this year because of a stagnant powerplay.

  24. Tocchet should call up
Wayne and get him to run a couple of practice power play sessions

  25. Fuzzy-Coconut7839

This game was like watching Canucks play the Canucks, very fast, very entertaining, very well-matched. I was hoping for a tie, but oh well

  26. toomuchhamza

Game was close and back and forth until the final 3 minutes. They got PP goals and we didn’t. But the way the game thread was going, you’d think we lost 15-0 against the Blue Jackets or something. We played really well for a bulk of the game.

  27. 5 on 5 i’m not worried at all. Special teams though, it’s going to cost us the series if they can’t figure it out.

  28. CapnPositivity

Bag skate them all. Fuck this shit

Edit: Then bag skate them again for good measure.

  29. g0kartmozart

Awesome game, lost due to special teams. Both goalies were dialed.

We shouldn’t lose our minds over this.

  30. hiliikkkusss

stars vs canucks in the playoffs lets goooo

    4 ots like its 2007

  31. phantomgiratina

Refs were awful, but special teams failed them tonight, PK was good tonight but failed them at a key moment, powerplay could’ve swung the tide of the game but they didn’t do anything on it,

I thought Petey didn’t look sharp tonight

  32. JerichoTina

Powerplay had been bad since the ASG. Pretty concerning they haven’t turned it around in the last 2 months.

  33. carry-on_replacement

After cooling down a bit here are some pros:

    – Garland is a puck handling monster (as usual)

    – Miller carrying this team on his back

    – DeSmith has a rare s% > .900

    – PK is better than the stat line suggests

  34. Intelligent_Base_931

I cant wait for us to start playoffs. Such great vibes. Keep calm squad!

  35. redslumber

I thought this was the most entertaining game I’ve watched all season. A lot of mistakes from both sides, but the difference for Dallas was their special teams.

They feel like a heavier team that doesn’t fight a whole lot.

  36. h_danielle

ok but can we talk about how hilarious bbno$ was tonight

  37. How was bains? Didn’t have a chance to watch the game tonight

  38. Certain_Pickle896

I don’t like it when we lose! It’s annoying! I really don’t like how we can’t win the last couple games! Why aren’t the Elias Pettersson showing up? It really makes me annoyed when they lose these games in the last 5 minutes. I don’t care about the penalty, bad calls will always happen, even in the playoffs. They need to do better. I need them to win and clinch a playoff spot. This is infuriating and this is not Canucks hockey. Please stop losing and just clinch a playoff spot. Just win. I don’t care how. Play hockey and win the game. No more excuses. Like LA playing the trap 1-3-1. That is no excuse! Edmonton won against the same 1-3-1 LA team today. They did it. Their top players showed up. The Canucks only had Miller and Garlando show up. More players need to want to win. And one more thing, please get that powerplay going

  39. outofnowhere1010

Special teams was the difference tonight . Petey another no show.

  40. AccomplishedAd4995

Some goods I took away from this game

    – looked REALLY good on 5v5
    – Desmith played a pretty solid game
    – Dakota had a strong game (literally and physically)
    – Unreal pass by garland that led to miller’s goal

  41. technicalvowel

Ngl I don’t see the magic that’s going to take this team far in the playoffs with how they played tonight. There doesn’t seem to be any creativity in how they play. But thats just my opinion.
