Jeff Petry played his worst game in a Red Wings uniform, directly causing three goals against. Meanwhile he played more than Seider and Chiarot who were fantastic. That is a monumental failure. Reimer was good, until he wasn’t. And without Patrick Kane (and Austin Czarnik) in the lineup due to illness, the offense was stifled even more against an oppresive Hurricanes team. #LGRW

Holl had a plus/minus of 0 while Petry was a -3, Seider a -1. Holl should be in the lineup, and Petry should sit.
For the Lalonde simps: he has basically coached 2 years…how in the world do you see our defense improving or looking better next year? He has been 100% unable to implement any system that I can see. Either Yzerman has zero ability to spot defensive talent or Lalonde has failed to motivate or coach this defense. It's one or the other.
The worst part about this loss is that Philly and washington both lost. This could have been a huge win. Time is running out. Onto the next one I guess

Truly a disgusting performance. Turned off the game after the the Canes first goal. Feel so sorry for Stevie Y. He relied on these turncoat rentals to take them so close into the playoffs. Lalonde needs to resign IMMEDIATELY. And these rentals, with the exception of Kane (who didn't play tonight) and Debrincat, need the boot and not play pro hockey ever again, at least not for the salaries Stevie Y had given them….. Except for Kane and Debrincat, the rentals absolutely stopped playing professional hockey for the last 3 weeks. In fact, the other rentals did the honors by taking away opportunities for the Wings producers. Of course, I'm just opining. But watch the footage and that's your proof. Is Jeff Petry in the right sport, since his dad was a Tiger? Maybe Petry should be playing baseball. Again, I'm so sorry for Stevie Y. These other rentals turned off the spickett right after the trade deadline. Conspiracy or not? Stevie Y is a decent human being. Why would those other rentals do that to him? No defense whatsoever. And barely any puck control. And I'm referring to the last 3 weeks. What a total disappointment. Makes you wonder really why Kane was out. Yeah, Kane is sick alright, watching several of his teammates play like those in the Midget league. The season is over. This should stop now. Bring up the top draft picks and please bench the non-productive rentals ASAP!!!

Petry had 19 minutes of ice time. That is absolutely ridiculous after the mistakes this guy is making game in and game out. This whole team is meh. I want everyone gone except seider larkin kane debrincat and raymond. Everyone else has not shown up whatsoever. Even when they do show up there meh. In there prime these "vets" were average at best. We have a full roster of mid players. We neednto clean house. And lalonde needs to be gone. He is terrible. Him giving 19min to petry….enough is enough for me. Heads need to roll. It would also be nice if petry was held accountable. But he never is. I wish a reporter would ask lalonde tough questions why has petry not been benched? No accountability whatsoever. I bet petry has some dirt on either yzerman or lalonde. Or Jeff's dad is threatening lalonde or yzerman if he doesn't play his son that such and such will happen. He has got to go. As someone who doesn’t pay attention to hockey all that much why was Petry signed?He seems to be a hindrance to the team from what I’ve seen.

On the Car first goal, Ras is behind the play and therefore it’s his responsibility to cover the cross pass. Jarvis had Guentzel with him. If Petry had not come over to help Seider, then Guentzel would have had a free wide open play on net. (Watch it back if you don’t believe me) Petry motioned for Ras to pick up the cross pass and Ras didn’t notice in time. In the post game, Lalonde said that Ras missed his defensive assignment on that play. Petry played that properly.
As for Petry’s penalty: every player has gotten penalties from time to time. It’s not like Petry has been racking up penalty minutes with the Wings. It happens sometimes.
On the 3rd goal, Petry did seem to react really slowly. I can agree with that. But Reimer also reacted really slowly and he was part of the problem there. He didn’t even try to move to the other side of the goal. He just leaned a bit.
I get that people get frustrated and just want to blame someone. But Petry has been getting bashed all season and hasn’t been anywhere near as bad as all that. I’m not pretending he’s great but he also wasn’t brought in to be great. He is, on the other hand, the 2nd best R def on the Wings right now. Seider > Petry > Holl, and that’s it for R def on the Wings currently.
Idk how many times I’ve seen Wings’ defensemen make a play in the defensive zone only for a forward to bungle it. I can agree that the Wings D core needs work and Yzerman has been filling up the farm system with them. But more than that is how bad the forwards are in the defensive zone. Often low pressure and poor puck control with bad passes in the D zone.

I stopped watching after the first period. I had a feeling the game was going to turn ugly for the wings. Looks like everyone is nervous to hold the puck and be creative. At this point I believe that they aren't aloud to be creative. They are forced to stick to the play, and the play only. It's either that, or everyone on the team is shit for brains and no courage to be creative and try and fool the opposition. Rather then outplay them with set plays off of a dry erase board. I just don't get it. Maybe all the games the wings win are ONLY because the team they beat just have a bad game. Next year will be the same story. Because the coach needs to go, and literally over half of the roster needs to go. At this point, they should just stack the team with prospects on the roster for next year. It's pretty cool having all these Michigan players. But it's also hurting the franchise. Larkin is all the local talent the team needs. Stack the team with the best players on the planet by drafting AND TRADING. Stop stacking the team with Michigan players when there is a whole planet of humans that can play great hockey. This team is supposed to be elite. They just roll over and show their belly as soon as the game doesn't go as planned. At this point I might just start to watch only Griffins games until the Red Wings get passed round 1in the playoffs. Getting to the playoffs isn't going to be enough for me to want to watch any wings games…. I kinda lost control for a minute there 😅

Perron's hook was far from egregious. He reached out with the blade of his stick and hooked the defenseman in between his hands causing an immediate turnover. Nice call by the ref.
I’m not sure why people keep saying Walman was scratched for poor play. As far as I know, Walman was only scratched one game this season. I looked it up and could only find the one game as well. It was the game against the Leafs back in January. Lalonde said he was out for illness and the website confirmed that. I remember at the time that podcasters started saying he was scratched for poor play but that just isn’t true.
The stat card for this game is hilarious, nobody covered themselves in glory, but they had to zoom out to fit Petry on it.
What gets to me are the so-called fans that want to dump obviously good coaches when things don't go exactly as they want them to for 4-6 weeks. The Red Wings are NOT the NJ Devils. This is NOT the age of unlimited money. There's a salary cap to deal with. Theres a player's union to deal with. This is NOT 2008 anymore. Some of these guys cite coaches names they can't even spell! We're making obvious progress every year and building a perennial playoff team like Tampa Bay. Relax, Yzerman was a great player and IS a great GM. If you can't be patient then be a Devils fan. Please!~
