To be ailing with an illness he missed practice the day before so he was scratched the Bruins had a couple of former Buckeyes in their lineup lorai and merav a rough game physically for both of them with uh lorai losing teeth from a puck to the face and merkulov

Taking a big hit from Jack rosic of all people even though eventually Boston found their footing and ended up dominating the game at the end of it they did have some trouble finding their footing early it was a scoreless first period Boston only getting five shots on

Net to 12 for the Blue Jackets it was old Mark in net for the Bruins and he was almost always solid for them when he was tested so a very solid opening 20 minutes from the jackets in my opinion a good a good start to the new year but

Early second period things got a little bit rough with Spencer Martin letting in a pretty bad goal from Distance by shaton Kirk that’s one where even though Spencer Martin is decidedly your backup you do expect any NHL goalie to have that shot 10 out of 10 times so down one

Nothing the jackets they were able to respond well fairly quickly getting some Zone time the puug was in a dangerous area for a little bit before Kent Johnson uh sniped in a shot from around the the mid high slot there so a good shot from Kent Johnson he’s beginning to

Show his promise he’s responded very well to being sent down to Cleveland and then being called back up ever since he got back up he’s found some nice chemistry with that on that line that he’s on with Cole cylinder and EML bemstrom that’s been humming along pretty well uh but after a serson

Penalty for tripping James Van Reams DK would get a deflection past Spencer Martin Boston would restore their lead in the second period ends 2-1 to the Bruins on the power play in general the Jacks got a couple of their own the the power play didn’t score for Columbus but

Honestly with some of the efforts that we’ve seen in other games this one wasn’t quite so bad they did get some shots on net But ultimately weren’t able to to solve olark with the man Advantage but going into the third still a very close game f like Boston was able to

Really stake their claim to the contest in that third though with the jackets you know they got a decent amount of shots on net but just not a lot of prime chances and and any shot that was dangerous was would be stopped by lenus olark nonetheless so uh after a EUR Chic

Turnover behind the net the jackets uh that that gave up a goal to Heinen jvr with the assist there that felt like the dagger goal with Boston going up 3-1 with 12 minutes left even though two goals in 12 minutes isn’t necess necessarily that big of a task to ask

For it just didn’t feel like the jackets had two goals in them and Trent Frederick was found on a two two-on-one with jvr to ice the game even further pretty much putting an already an already a game that was already put to bed kind of tucking it in there and

Telling it a bedtime story and that was jvr second assist and his third point of the game so the contest ended up being about as expected when you look at where both of these teams are this year and pretty much historically as well uh it was a really bad game for David Urich

This is what’s going to be referred to as a learning moment from the coaching staff for him at this point you know I’d still rather see him get a lot of ice time and learn from those mistakes and he’s still still going to make some as a young defenseman defenseman in the NHL

You know the season is far beyond the pure win loss records at this point I know I was upset about the the Elvis thing that cost them perhaps in overtime but as we get closer and closer to the Midway point of the season I am begin to

Accept more and more that this is just another year of you know watching the youth and trying to get myself excited for the future of this franchise which is definitely a disappointment from where I was at the beginning of the season but that that’s something that we

Can discuss in a different you know bigger picture video where in this game Spencer Martin didn’t have his best game either but when the team only scores one goal I can’t really put the result on the goenda the skaters uh we we did have some lineup changes before their game

Tonight against the Flyers with rosovich being placed on that Top Line with goodro and fentii Dan for being moved to the fourth line with gonson Olivier definitely a bit of an interesting move I’m not really sure what Jack rovic has done to Merit the jump in the lineup I

Mean he’s come back from injury and he’s been fine on that fourth line I don’t think he’s been absolutely terrible or anything but I also don’t think we’ve seen this amazing burst of of play from Jack rosic to Merit him going up to the top line of the lineup you know his his

Theoretical upside for rosic that isn’t necessarily utilized well in a bottom six role and Danforth can play anywhere in the lineup you know but I just don’t like demoting a guy playing like Dan forth is and be Justin Danforth is currently having a pretty good season

Just because it makes the lines make a bit more sense in theory uh but they’re playing the Flyers tonight Philadelphia has shown that a roster that isn’t expected to do much you know on paper that they can exceed expectations with really good really competent coaching torella has that team in a playoff spot

Not just himself obviously the skaters have to do their job and the all that that roster has to be good as a collective but they were expected to be toiling at the bottom of the standings kind of with Columbus but uh the Flyers are definitely making that a good jump

This year we’ll see if they can keep it up through the back half of this season and we’ll see if the jackets can exceed expectations tonight by actually winning maybe some of those lineup changes won’t take it that much into effect because this team does have some game time

Decisions to make with some illness running through the locker room but we’ll see how their lineup looks tonight against Philadelphia and we’ll see if they can earn their first win of the New Year tonight but that’s going to do it for me in this video thank you so much
