Did the NHL just SCREW MacKinnon?

We need to talk about the NHL’s decision to remove Nathan MacKinnon’s assist, and thus end his home game point streak, as we break down the New York Rangers vs the Colorado Avalanche on today’s NHL hockey video!

  1. The NHL doesn't handle hand pass at all like the rule book at least in practice. The way they handle it is nothing like that book definition.

  2. Yes, yes they sure did!!! F ers. I’m still counting it and we all can too. mikkos stick was going at least as fast as the NY defenders stick. Simple. No possession. And fyi, the color announcer has gotten like 23/24 calls correctly. So they’re not just spitting bias.

And toews got the goal. Rant didn’t touch puck

  3. The petition is just a formality to try and get him the apple. As much as I don’t like MacKinnon it does suck to see the run come to an end.

  4. Mackinnon should totally get the point, and on a 35 game home point streak, the Rangers player didn’t affect the trajectory of the puck at all. Mackinnon should get an assist

  5. From the Rangers fan side no problem with either call…. really good game, I expected the Rangers to crash down to earth playing a mile high against a best from the west and they played a really good smart D-first game in the hardest building in the NHL to play in. They only got mildly outplayed lol but nothing Shesty couldn't handle and found a way to win.

  6. The whole "Own-Goal" thing actually happened to Marty Brodeur a while back. He touched the puck last on his team and the other team cycled it around before a missed pass and bad bounce led to an empty net. Marty was awarded an unassisted goal for that lmao.

  7. Your content is getting stale. Idc about the Nova Scotia connection anymore. Cover something that actually matters like teams you never talk about. Rangers, Avs, Maple Leafs, Bruins, Panthers , and Lightning are so talked about (also Oilers). You're so biased that the Predators are tailing the Stars and Jets. Oh and the Devils and Sabres played today. Superstars aren't the glue. Talk about something unique for once.

  8. Actually had a fight with someone of the Hockey Guys channel in the comment section because Shannon thought that Igor should be 38 of 40. But how the fuck? lol Igor saved 39!! He doesn’t lose a save because he got scored on.. He still physically saved 39 and since the second goal was credited to the Avs but there was no shot credited because it was an “own goal” Igor is clearly 39 for 40. I had two people coming after me for this lol. It’s such a simple thing to understand lol

  9. No, simple fucking answer, someone’s gonna reply and bitch abt my comment and idgaf, as a ranger fan no matter how I say this, it’s gonna sound biased. No mackinnon did not get screwed, yes he did all the work to get the puck to toews who shot it BUT, Igor made the save, THEN, lindgren knocked it into the net after the initial save, causing it to be an own goal, now if the shot went straight in without lindy knocking it in, it’s an assist for Mackinnon, but since it’s an own goal it’s rewarded to the last player who touched the puck, in this case, Toews. So can we stop bitching abt this?? He did not get screwed, the whole avalanche team was pissed even when reviewing the Kreider goal which was hilarious that they thought it was a hand pass. Anyway the rangers won, move on it’s over, both teams will make deep runs nobody gives a fuck abt a point streak it won’t mean shit if ur out first round.

  10. What’s with the hate with the shootout? Like game has to end at some point it’s not the playoffs. What would y’all rather see than a shootout?

  11. still rather a shootout than a tie. also, they should implement the 3-2-1-0 scoring system from the IIHF and PWHL, but won't because the current one usually makes the playoff race artificially tighter

  12. I love how sports fans will just create stats. "Home point streak" is dumb. If a team goes on a road trip for six games and dude gets zero points on that road trip then plays a home game and gets a point, its not a real streak. Just a way to make something sound more impressive than it is.

  13. I can see the refs followed the rule here, but… why does the rule exist or why does it need to be enforced this obtusely? The goal wouldn't have happened without MacKinnon's pass, so what is the NHL risking by giving him (and Ranty) a point here?

  14. Your videos are absolute shite, lad. As a long-time viewer, I use to get excited when I would see a new video out by you. Those days are long over.

You have such a unique opportunity with your hockey interest and subscriber number. There are not many creators out there that make hockey related videos like you. There are small storylines to be told in the NHL, and that's why I've continued to click on your videos. McDavid just had a game where he came to 122 points and is now only two off the league lead after having just 10 points on November 10th, 2023. He's been a contender for MVP for a while, but is even more of a serious contender as I type this.

Despite this, you took time to produce this fucking shite? That of which amounts to nothing more than hackery?

'Did Ryan Lindgren purposefully FUCK MacKinnon's home point streak?' Based off what happened in the game, you could make an argument about this. That's only if you were unbelievably lazy and utterly delusional.

If you can answer the questions to your absurd, lazy, and clickbait title within the first 7 seconds of describing the situation in which it occurred, and do so by saying '[the nhl rule] makes sense.' That is the point where you scrap the video and come up with something better.

Quality, not quantity, Eck. The former is almost always what differentiates the 'good' from 'great.'

  15. to your first point, there is a video angle shown that looks more like it hit/bounced off doods forearm more than glove

  16. i get it’s how the rule book is written but honestly the concept of making a goal unassisted is really dumb to me. you’re telling me you can dump a puck back into your own corner, get off the ice, and then two guys pick it up and pass back and forth to score 30 seconds later and you still get a secondary assist, but mackinnon gets nothing on a play like this? it just doesn’t make sense

  17. Same thing happened in the recent Kings vs Bolts game. Matt Roy misplayed the puck after stealing it from Brayden Point and it ended up in Kings net. Point was awarded a goal, Kucherov, who passed it to Point, didn't get an assist just like Mack against Rangers

  18. Devon Toews was credited with the goal, not Rantanen. Toews is the one that shot it from the point then Lingren batted into his own goal

  19. And yet, the Calgary Flames were robbed of a goal a month ago for a "hand pass" that literally bounced off a players glove with zero indication of an open hand or batting motion. So I don't blame the announcers and team for thinking of a challenge.
