  1. I followed him round the full 18 holes on the Sunday at St George's and he was awesome – Darren truly deserved every drop of the black stuff that night!!

  2. imagine havin to do a press conference at 9am after bein up drinkin all nite ha, legend , make u proud to be irish

  3. This guy represents what golf should be, play to enjoy and have a good time with your family and friends. Not the pompous BS that goes on at Augusta or other stuck up places that are trying to hold on to a tradition that should not be how the game is viewed or played. Get over yourselves people this guy just won the BRITISH OPEN he earned the right to celebrate.

  4. He was interviewed on Late Late show recently and was asked about the backlash to this. His responce was….. "What a load of Bollox"

  5. just one those moments .very good played solid.no one let you win.overdue as well, also emotinal to alot of others no bias, think phil miickleson be flying back to usa, calling you a lucky swear word lol

  6. darrens just a normal bloke. damn right hes pissed, id be pissed if id just won the greatest prize in golf. shows how different he is from those stuck up american players whod be on their lear jet drinking bottled water after winning, counting their money. darren gets drunk, apparently rory got pissed after winning his 2 majors, so did graham mcdowell. i honestly think thats the difference in ryder cup. the europeans pull for each other whereas the americans play only for themselves!!!

  7. when we say "pissed" we me mean drunk. as in "pissed as a fart" lol. i dont know what you mean by "pissed"? almost anywhere you go in the world, ireland, australia, UK, even none english speaking countries. "pissed" means "drunk". therefore it is not us who have the "different", as you put it, definition but it would be you who have the different definition. lol.

  8. I wasn't coming at you in anyway lol, I was just curious. As "others" I meant Americans and with "different" I meant different from Americans thats all haha. Not that it is wrong or weird just means something else. I'm 100% Irish and glad I know this now lol. Plan to visit when I'm older, most likely for the next time Notre Dame plays in Dublin in 10 years.

  9. sorry pal. just difficult to gather peoples tone when its written down lol. didnt mean to sound defensive. i know in US it means "pissed off" right? i thought you might have been notre dame from the avatar, "the fighting irish" right? yeah over here its means drunk. "on the piss" you will hear a lot means "with the intention of gettin drunk" lol. ive got a few american mates and you can see them gettin more an more confused as the night goes on an the slang phrases come out lol.

  10. It's fine lol don't worry about it. Yes, pissed mean you're mad about something. As in, I'm really pissed Europe had that momumental comeback in the Ryder Cup this year lol. I'm going to starting using pissed in your sense to confuse my friends at school when we are sipping on some Guinness lol.

  11. well i wasnt "pissed" about europes epic sunday singles in the ryder cup. especially as i had a bet on them on the saturday night. no offence mate but that was one of the best sporting days of my life. just noticing the chants of "USA,USA" getting quieter as the day went on. i was winding my US friends up for weeks about that one, i still am actually lol. watching little rory shut keegan bradleys big mouth has to be one of the best sporting experirences of my life, lol.sorry dude, lol!!!

  12. Very good ambassador for Irish golf. No harm in appearing in a press conference for the world press totally sloshed. Fair play to him. He's a great example to kids and gives a great picture of Ireland around the world. If Darren Clarke could give up the booze for 5 years hes could win another major. Probably wont though – pity

  13. A class act and to see him add the Seniors Open today is just unreal, right up there way the best sportsmen ever from Our Wee Country

  14. After the 2006 Ryder Cup I sent Darren an email congratulating his performance. For the next month he and I went back and forth and had a wonderful "conversation". Even as an American I found both of these performances to offer the kind of inspiration that changes lives. Thanks Darren for being the incredible golfer AND person that you are.
