We didn’t “steal” Yzerman. Detroit could’ve made him GM, but Ken Holland’s ego got in the way. Yzerman left and rebounded with Tampa Bay, and the rest is history.
One other wrinkle: Detroit traded a first round pick to reacquire Kyle Quincy from us. That pick turned into Andrei Vasilevskiy.
