Should we be shocked by Hyman’s 50-goal season?

Zach Hyman achieved an incredible milestone by scoring his 50th goal of the season over the weekend. It’s a number not many people would have thought was possible prior to this season but should we be shocked at his accomplishment? TSN Hockey analyst Mike Johnson shares his thoughts.

  1. When you put a hard working and smart hockey player with really good and intelligent hockey players , all players will benefit . Hyman benefits from the players he plays with as well as knowing where to be and when to be there . Super star players draw alot of attention from opposing teams and if the players around them are smart enough , they'll make opposing teams pay for that .

  2. We have seen Kessel win 3 Stanley Cups after he left Toronto. So why be surprised when Zack scores 50 in Edmonton – after leaving the Leafs.

Does this trend forecast – that if or when Matthews leaves the Leafs to play for (say as an example) Vegas he’ll win the Stanley Cup and score 70 goals only then and there?😀

  3. Toronto could not afford to keep him since they did not have sufficient fund to re-sign him. Therefore, they had no choice but to let him walk. And no, he could have not scored 50 in Toronto.

  4. Look lets be real shall we? Hyman is not a 50 goal player, yes this he has done it this season but don't expect it again. Frankly his 50goals speaks more to McDavid/Drai then it does to him, take those 2 factors away from Hyman and he'll be back to 20goal seasons.

  5. He makes the net 2 feet wider standing on the post like he does. Its such a unique move, and so effective.
