Fragile right now. Here’s the thing. Defensively they are still ok. They just can’t score. If they can get some guys scoring consistently and still keep the defense they are legit. If they continue with this one or 2 goal per game bs they are done. The optimist in me thinks they are gonna go on a run to end the season but who knows. This one isn’t on management. They made the moves to acquire more firepower. It’s up to the coaches to put those players in the right positions to score goals. It’s also up to the players to score!

I have not. My optimism was shaken after Saturday but never my faith.

It’s hard not to be pessimistic based on the past (6-7?) season, but I’m trying to find a balance between giving up and getting my hopes too high. We’ve seen that they are capable of being competitive against any team in the league when they’re at their best, and Helley is more than capable of getting hot and stealing a series or two. For years now, it’s seemed like the Jets are more affected by momentum, confidence/lack of it, and “vibes” than most teams. When things aren’t going well, they seem to look like they’ve lost their spark and are just going through the motions. That makes it difficult for them to get out of a slump, which obviously doesn’t bode well for their chances of making a deep playoff run. On the other hand, if they can string together a few good games, I think it’s possible that they could regain their intensity and swagger and go on a run.
Basically, I’m taking a “wait and see” approach, and maintaining a healthy level of emotional attachment, which, for me, means that I care enough to get some good vibes from their wins, but not enough to get bad ones from their losses.

DIdnt the canucks lose 5 straight like a month and a half ago? Yes we are in a rut but you dont waddle into 40 some odd wins by chance

My outlook could probably be summed up as definitely having some serious doubts right now, but legitimately hoping they prove me wrong in Round 1.

Nope!! Perfect time for a slump & rally (before playoffs)! Go Jets Go!!!

There sure are a lot fewer posts laughing at ‘Doomers’ these days.

Copium, this team is showing its post new year performance drop off like they do every year. It’s just later than normal. They will make playoffs, but honestly I don’t like any match-up they would face in the first or second round. The Stars and Avalanche are are deeper in high end talent and have the advantage in every category except goal tending. All I want is to see effort and a full 60 minutes every game. They clearly haven’t done that, no consistency to their game, and that’s been an issue since 2019.

No. Faith not lost. Go jets go!!!

We definitely had a hard March, playing 16 games in 31 days. Thats .51 games per day for March.
Thats an intense pace for a 31 day month. But the real killer is 1 two day break. Thats just insane.
At this point in the season our record says we are a playoff team, so we aren’t frauds or anything. We also aren’t among the top 5 teams.

Lost faith would indicate I had faith. Lost faith years ago.

Balls in their court…. or puck!?!?!?!?

There is still a mathematical possibility that they could miss the playoffs if they lose out and St. Louis wins all of their games. But that won’t matter if the Jet’s just win one. Then they are guaranteed a spot.

It doesn’t matter if we have faith. We aren’t the ones on the ice. We aren’t playing the game. What matters is if the team has faith in themselves, in each other.
Are they going to stand tall, back straight, and charge into the playoffs ready to go the distance?
Or will they do what they do every year: roll over and die, first-round exit and spend the next six months convincing themselves that next year will somehow be different.
They can start by putting some wins together in the final stretch. Start by getting a win against LA tonight. Build something going into the Gauntlet that is next week: Taking on Nashville, Colorado, and Dallas in their homes. They win those games, they’ll firmly re-establish our faith in the team, but more importantly, their faith will be restored in themselves.

As someone who watches Hockey but doesn’t live and breathe it. No, not at all.
I never understood people who get mad, annoyed or worried about when a team suddenly stops doing well. I love the Jets, they’re an amazing team and no matter how much they lose they’re still my favorite team. I watch Hockey for fun and to connect with my father(though he isn’t a Jets fan). Yeah it sucks that they’re in a losing streak, but it happens to every team and as someone who grew up watching Toronto it’s not my first time seeing a team struggle before the playoffs.

No I haven’t.
When a lot of people were talking about a rebuild before this year, I was thinking that the Jets have just had bad luck during their playoff runs with injuries and the suspension and some bad coaching.
There was Scheifele’s injury one year. Then his suspension another year.
There was Ehlers’s injury.
And then there was Paul Maurice’s strategy in 2021 of making the Jets play loose while having fun and not feeling pressure. This strategy got them past the Oilers with a sweep. But then it didn’t work against the Canadiens and adjustments should’ve been made (if adjustments were made, they didn’t work).
I was thinking that if these things didn’t happen, the Jets could’ve made deep playoff runs.
However, with that being said, my faith is definitely very shaken right now.

That jets seem to have multiple guys that can’t finish right now. They are running out of games to find their touch. They may end up skating into the playoffs rather then riding in… if 3 or 4 different guys can’t find some finish they will be very quickly. Helly can keep them in a few games but at some point the other guys have to actually win them.
ML00k3r
Yes.
Because it’s a reoccurring theme. And not just this year either with the losing streak.
They’ll make playoffs because Blues and Wild are just as bad but don’t have what it takes to make up the difference. But we’ll see another four or five game series that they’re on the short end of the stick.

No, but I hate that the media is going to sway a lot of ‘fans’.
The easiest way for a casual fan to fit in when talking about the Jets is “They suck!”
Captain_Naps
Never had much faith in them. I won’t cheer for them simply out of geographic convenience; they haven’t shown me much to make me a dedicated fan. The stewardship of upper management leaves me underwhelmed.

It’s a bad run, but all teams have bad runs.
It’s pretty bad timing to have a bad run, but thems the breaks sometimes.
