Hell no! Hard pass on Babcock, I get you're just throwing names out there but that's like buying a used car knowing it has faulty brakes.
Ill be honest, id rather run it back with kahkonen and allen vs getting merzlikins
No coach can fix a soft undersized 2-line team with no heart that can't motivate itself to beat bad teams during a playoff hunt. This team must rely on crisp accurate passes to make most of our speed advantage. When that doesn't happen game over.
Fitz should be calling Vegas about Thompson. If we had to eat part of Robin Lehners contract to get him, it would be worth it. Sullivan next HC!
Gerard Gallant is Lindy Ruff 2.0. That is another coach who doesn't hold players accountable or make adjustments when things are going south.
How about Jay Pandolfo as a coaching option? He's a succssful coach at the pro and college level and is an organization guy.
daws neesd 2-4 more years to develop by that 4th year he needs to at least be the backup goalie, but him and schmid were rushed way to quickly into the nhl and thats not a good recipe for success as a goal tender. having them both come up so soon may have set back their development a little bit but only time will tell as far as that goes, the coaching situation is the area that im not really sure what they should do, none of the options that are available really jump out at me and say this is definitely the guy we need, does that mean none of them could be that guy? no but for me it almost seems like the coaching situation is more or less a long shot, sullivan barube brucie all of them seem to be decent options, but i dont really care who it is thats behind the bench as long as we get full 60 min games from the devils for 82+ games next season, markstrom is still my favorite option as the number 1 goalie, hes older but he fits the devils timeline better as far as goalies go by the time hes ready to retire daws and schmid should both be ready one would hope, and is not as expensive as lets say a saros will be, and i genuinely belive that with calgary holding out on trading markstrom and the fact that we got allen and kahkonen for as cheap as we did, the price on a goalie like markstrom is not going to be what everyone thought it would be, id be surprised if the devils end up paying this years first round pick and a prospect for him at this point. yes markstrom is a better goalie than allen or kahkonen so their value isnt the same, but you can use the allen and kahkonen deals as a stepping stone to understand the value of a goalie like markstrom
