The New York Islanders scored twice in the third period to defeat the Chicago Blackhawks 2-1 and to pull to within one point of a playoff spot with seven games remaining on the schedule. Simon Holmstrom potted the game winning goal and Ilya Sorokin ended his personal losing streak as the Isles finally raised their game when it mattered late.

Important win barely beating sorry hawks. Keeps playoff hopes alive-barely. That should keep louzer and the property bros. happy. To at least make playoffs so prop. bros. can get two games of playoff revenue that they don't have to share with players. Not much else to say. Isles are so far from being a contender stuck in the murky middling/mediocre range. Which is exactly what a hole bettman and his fkn parity/three point b s was meant to do. Keep mediocre crap teams that aren't playoff caliber in the playoff race. Pens/sabres won. Caps, nj lost keeping these teams right in the murky waters with isles. Whoever goes 5-2 4-3 will get in. I hate this mediocre/middling shit.
im certain if you look at the history of every team in all 4 major sport leagues throughout their history ,has their been such a disparity between excellence and failure .I mean we are the greatest dynasty in the history of professional sports ,no team has ever won 19 consecutive playoff series in a row . The last team going on 40 years now to win 4 consecutive championships and 5 straight finals is us.And the lows we have fallen to after our dynasty is just unfathomable. But our dynasty islanders,are role models for everybody in any profession ,the very definition of excellence and we should all aspire in whatever profession we are to reach that level of excellence. True role models in every sense of the word,and Long Island is mighty lucky to have that , incredibly lucky to have that as a part of our history. The nassau county coliseum /mitchell field in uniondale is sacred land.When i go to the most beautiful beach in the world,in montauk i reflect on our dynasty islanders and realize in life all things come to a end.
