He is becoming what I saw in him much faster then I expected. Makes me wonder what he can actually be.
If he's a " bust" based on his first 2 seasons. Then what about Jack Hughes during his first 2 seasons? Just saying
Interesting, if only Anderson would even attempt to pattern himself on the youngster
he will be the next montreal canadien to reach 100 pts in a season
People calling him a bust either don't understand hockey, are soft in the head, or just act in bad faith.
Veľmi mu fandim aj Montrealu keď tam hra Košičan ako ja
everyone is quick to write off a kid but he had a lot to adjust to and did it well and those naysayers are now eating their words
Thanks coach, it really shows you understand ice hockey, not like many "fans" only expecting point after point after point .. Ice hockey is a beautiful complex game that involves hubdreds of small and big things, and Juraj is already proving he can do plenty of the small and big things, points are sedondary right now
Habs need this type of player. MSL also did a good job, he has patience and knows how to lead young players.
A Star???? Not even close. Improving but not a Star.
As Super Coach said about Monty… you MUST PROVE yourself..
He is far from a star
Who said he was a BUST!!!
Coach… what I am saying is …. And listen closely
He is statistically the worst # 1 overall pick in 26 years when you look at first 111 games among all forwards —- even Nail Yacopov
As a # 1 overall—- POINTS AND PRODUCTION MATTERS
Is he improved from last year…. I certainly hope so
Is he improving over this year
Yes his last 20 games he is improving….
Is he a star…. No where close
Can he be—- hopefully because 80-90% of all # 1 overalls do
Let’s go back among # 1 overall forwards
Bedard
Lafreniere
Hughes
Hischier
McDavid
McKinnon
Yacopov
Nugent Hopkins
Taylor Hall
Tavares
Kane
Crosby
Ovechkin
Nash
Kovalchuck
Stefan
Lecavalier
THORTON
After 111 games Slafkovsky does not beat any of them
Did I say he is a BUST—- no but of the 18 names he is at the bottom of the production list
That is pure fact—- not propaganda trying to pump up a player for local market sensitivity
It IS very very fair to compare him to all Number 1 overalls because in each year they are deemed the best junior in THE WORLD
NEXT year is the big year because he gets paid on that PRODUCTION
I DONT buy the local Tsn commentary and their bandwagon cheering ( ps remember they are paid by the team for local market commentary so they are cheer leaders)
I never said he is a bust
But he is at the bottom of that 18 player list
That is unquestionably TRUE
LETS SEE AFTER —- paycheque year
If he wants Suzuki Caulfield money he has to bring the lumber—- pure production
Exactly…. big guys need a bit more time to fill out. At 23, 24 he's going to be a beast to deal with for other teams
Unbelievable analysis!!! 👍👍👍
MSL's guidance, patience & confidence in Slafkovsky, has definitely paid dividends. Slafkovsky is becoming a key team player & it's a thrill to watch his growth. The sky's the limit given his talent, size, & positive attitude!
I said last season, he's only 18 and needs to find some aggression (stick up for himself). He's definitely taken a step forward there. As you say, his all around game has taken a big step forward. Not a generational talent and players take different amounts of time to come to form, bigger players often take longer. He'll keep getting better and better and teams are going to hate playing against him. He's in the top 5 hitters on the Habs. He's progressing nicely and anyone calling him a bust or anything negative is an example of why Mtl is a hard market to play in…just look at Drouin, it got to him big time.
Caufield isn't scoring like he was, I think the shoulder still needs time no worries…but his assists have shot up hugely and overall play improved.
Montreal has some of the most negative critical media and fans, it's ridiculous. I've been impatiently overcritical at times too. Just need to remind myself sometimes that Hughes isn't done yet and in developing players patience is a virtue.
Monty gets a win against his former team 👍👍👍
Thanks for another great video Coach. I am also very pleased with Slafkovsky's development so far!
Let's hope Dach can bounce back as well after suffering his big injury this year.
