UNACCEPTABLE. Post-Game Recap: Oilers 0, Stars 5

Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers were shutout by the red-hot Dallas Stars 5-0 on Wednesday night and lose an opportunity to gain points with their games in hand in the Pacific Division. It’s April, and efforts like tonight are completely unacceptable as we near the playoffs. #oilers #stars

  1. We have a very bad record against top 5 teams. We played very bad tonight. No defense. All we can do is park it and move on. As a side note Drai really seems like he wants to be traded in the off season. 3:22

  2. When someone shows you who they are, believe them. Edmonton is a 9th place team who is unlikely to get past any top 5 club. They need an adult in the room who can enforce discipline and smack some heads.

  3. It seems from what you've said and the comments are insinuating that the Edmonton Oilers play an "unacceptable" game. However, as an ordinary hockey fan who basically only watches playoff games, they seems to be an entirely different animal. Yet, I want it to be clear that whatever happens in the regular season should still 100% be considered when looking to the playoffs.

  4. Still have high hopes for the playoffs, but like you so rightly pointed out in your amazing-as-always video, this kind of defensive play and these kinds of mistakes aren't acceptable and have to stop. I stand by what I replied to you on Twitter with, the time is now to put Stecher into the lineup on a consistent basis. I know he won't magically fix everything, but the defence and especially his partner Nurse seems to be better with him in there. We'll see what happens on Friday, I suppose

  5. F3 on that Nurse pinch is just as wrong on that play he has to stay high and can’t be below the goal line. 3 Forwards below the goal line 😂

  6. As a Canucks fan, I’m thankful for results like these. The Canucks have been mediocre since the All-Star Break, which means the Oilers have a chance to pass the Canucks in the division. The Canucks must stay in first place to secure a first round matchup with a wildcard team rather than the Golden Knights. The Golden Knights are slowly returning to form in the last couple of weeks, which should terrify any team in the division. I understand that Nashville will likely beat the Canucks in a playoff series, but at least the Canucks have somewhat of a chance to at least push that series to a game 7. When Hertl and Stone come back, Vegas will be even better. They decimated the Canucks recently, the Oilers should worry.

  7. Draisaitl looks miserable. Reminds me of the end of the last Vegas series. Don't think it's a lack of commitment tho, maybe pushing himself too hard and making it even worse by forcing it. And Knoblauch needs get back to lines that were obviously working. Draisaitl with Perry and Henrique doesnt seem to be a good idea.

  8. Teams know its Connor to Leon on the pp most times, they need to be more creative!….How come Hyman never pushes off the post abit higher and one time a pass from Leon once in awhile instead of "hugging" the post ALL THE TIME??? To me hes practically taking himself out of the play, almost making it 4 on 4….that would force the opposition to spread out abit too thus creating more space/lanes.

  9. Most annoyed I’ve been. They hadn’t found their way before. How can this happen right now in the home stretch?

  10. Only playoffs count. Nonetheless, Dallas is a better team than Edmonton, as well as Boston, Vegas, Florida, Tampa, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Rangers, Carolina, Colorado, Toronto, Nashville. Those are deeper clubs with more aggregated talent. I am an Edmonton fan, but let's be honest: what we can expect from Edmonton, is a first round victory at best. If it is Los Angeles instead of Las Vegas, even that one is a perhaps… Any further wins, like two years ago would be the miracle category, let alone a conference championship. Stanley has been and is way out of league for Oilers, that's the sad truth. I don't think that changes in the foreseeable future. You can have 2-3 exceptional players, winning the conference and the cup with a collectively deep team is another story.

  11. As an Oilers fan, I'm just tired of Edmonton playing like they feel entitled to sleepwalk their way through games.
This team is not making it out of the 1st round of the playoffs this year and the window is closing extra fast for this team.

  12. It is very disappointing! This complete lack of structure and effort really boils my blood, screaming at the screen. I can't say enough bad about Nurse, I have been saying this constantly since last year. He is LAZY and he doesn't HATE losing. Kane too, overpaid and not even coming close to performing at the NHL level. Pouting and tempertantrums are for children. You are paid millions of dollars to play hockey. Need to drop the two of them. They are a waste!!! Put Kane and Nurse on waivers. Bring up Holloway and Broberg. Drai grow the F up and stop pouting when you don't get your way!!!

  13. when oilers lose they lose big . they wont go far in playoffs with this kind of lapse of judgement on ice. total lack of concentration and lack of any care.
why didnt knob call a timeout and put skinner on to show a message? why not get desperate and bench drai (he had HORRIBLE) game or do some juggling…. total trash

  14. i disagree about kane. he had a low hockey IQ game .. horrrrible in PP… totally drifting and not passing smart at ALL for PP setups. Also he seems lost on 5-5 still.

  15. I try not to pile on nurse because everyone seems to do that. But my God…he's become an awful d-man. He is absolutely not worth anywhere near his salary for the last couple of years. The raise he got was the worst thing that could have happened to him. The only Dman I trust is Ekholm. Vinny, Ceci and Kulak are all awful with the puck and , for the most part, take the worst imaginable shots. Bouch is so blasé out there and only seems to hustle after he's made a disgusting turnover. This team is looking like a first round exit – may not even have home advantage by the time the season is over.
