The Dallas Stars set a new Franchise Record win streak of 8 game after a 5-0 shutout of the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday night. It was the most complete win of the season and truly what we hoped the Dallas Stars could be at one point this season. On today’s episode of Locked On Stars, Joey breaks down just how impressive the win was and why he believes this will be the team to beat in the Western Conference. Depth scoring, intelligent defending and Jake Oettinger getting hot at the right time. Oettinger pitches his 2nd straight shutout with 35 saves and has now won six in a row. Sam Steel, Craig Smith and Radek Faksa combined for seven points in the game. In the three game season series versus the Oilers, Connor McDavid was held to just one point which is an impressive feat in itself. A statement win for the Stars on home ice heading into the weekend. First time in franchise history that the Stars have won eight straight games. Wow! Oettinger was fantastic!
Stars played so good last night, they killed my power. Right after that 5th goal went in , there was an explosion in my city and it knocked out power for a 5 mile stretch. It came back on right as the post game was ending.

don't we have like 17 or 18 straight wins when Nilsy plays? I totally understand wanting Hak's size and durability for the playoffs, plus he's a veteran so he IS going to get priority based on what we've seen all year. In my view, Nils has earned a spot for now. As an older veteran, Dadonov expects to play. But his situation is a little different with the glut of forwards we have. I think he's proven he can produce, and with Stank hitting a lull in scoring, it looks like a tossup. I don't think PDB will break up a 3rd line that is ON FIRE, but we'll see.
