The kid is a point per game player who leads the team in points despite missing 14 games. The next closest point producers on the team are an aging Nick Foligno and Phillip Kurashev who is having the most productive season of his career due in no small part to Bedard.

You might think, ok well it seems like ok he’s another generational player who is obviously going to lead rookies and his team right out of the gate. But compare him to Crosby, Matthews, McDavid. Crosby came into the league playing on a team with legends like Sergei Gonchar, John LeClair, and fucking MARIO LEMIEUX. Matthews came onto a Maple Leafs team with Mitch Marner, JVR, and William Nylander among others. McDavid got to play alongside some prime Taylor Hall, a quickly developing Leon Draisaitl, and Eberle who was having a great year despite injury.

The fact that Bedard is rocking this hard while having to battle back from a broken jaw AND play with easily one of the worst Blackhawks teams we’ve seen in over 2 decades is bonkers. If you had asked anyone aside from a Blackhawks fan who else of note is playing in Chicago this year at the start of the season you’d be hard pressed to have anyone answer anything other than Foligno (who is old, as I noted), Hall (whose season ended after 10 games), and Perry (who we had to dump after 19 games). There isn’t a single other impact player that most hockey fans would’ve thought would be an exciting pairing with Bedard. MAYBE Korchinski, if you were talking to someone who really paid attention to the draft and development of rookies.

May have gotten an Adidas authentic Bedard jersey with the captain patch in anticipation of the inevitable. Just wanted to get it before Fanatics steps in and gives us garbage jerseys. Foligno said earlier in the season “We go as he goes” which is insanely high praise for an 18 year old. This is why we painfully let go of Kaner. It’s Bedard’s team now
