  1. Its not good even though civil it may be crinimal even if its 6 years later. Yet guy slashed guy throat in hockey can be free and not charged.

  2. My guess is this case is going to be a very complicated one given how events have transpired to date. I wouldn’t assume anything about how this will play out from here.

  3. I don't believe all women… Also I'm not saying that this couldn't have possibly happened.

  4. If you read Crossing the Line, you can learn about how and why and where all this shit goes down. Of course, it took society about 20 years to catch up. That's typical.
    There will be convictions.

  5. I don’t get the fascination with having group sex with an unconscious woman with my best buds watching and Filming! This situation is becoming too common in society.

  6. I don't know if the Canadian legal system has this but in the American legal system we have a law called double jeopardy. It means that a person cannot be tried twice for the same crime.

So assuming Canada has this law, and she already accepted the settlement money, why are the police reopening the case?

  7. At this point Hockey Canada needs to be dissolved and rebuild themselves. Lose the black, the current logo, and have red and white as the prime colors.

Which name would better suit the governing hockey body of Canada?

    Canadian Ice Hockey Federation
    Canadian Ice Hockey Association
    Ice Hockey Association of Canada
    Ice Hockey Federation of Canada

If there are better names, let me know in the comments.

  8. I thought the RCMP already did their investigation years ago, they watched the video tape and didn't lay any charges. So why now?

  9. The Police were lazy and didn't investigate the crime properly. Hockey Canada's role was down right obstruction of justice. Don't sugar coat this. A serious crime was committed here.

Hockey Canada didn't need "cover". It needed to cooperate with the police, full stop. Hockey Canada should be disbanded.

  10. Not that anyone is concerned with the NHLs position right now (as they shouldn't be).

But this could be a real social nightmare for them.

It would be much simpler if they were just all found guilty..

But what if they're not ?
They can't just eject them from the league for not being found guilty…

Sure the teams can refuse to sign/renew their contracts and just quietly drum them out of the sport..

But what if they're innocent and keep playing in pro hockey/the NHL.

The amount of social backlash the NHL will get – will be next level in todays world (One of the very rare times I somewhat feel bad for the higher ups of the league).

  11. NHL doesn't need to do anything. It had nothing to do with the NHL. Canadian justice system is much different than America. You can not just pay for things to disappear like in America. Feb 5th London police will be issuing a statement and charges.

  12. It’s not hard to not be accused of gang raping a person. Honestly the league should just cut ties if the five players are implemented in any way.

  13. I have not been following this hardly at all. Why does London police only want 5 players when there was 8 people involved? And why London police? Out of every police force

  14. Nothing should be said until charges and an investigation are performed. But in the world we live in, these guys will be judged guilty until they are acquitted or found guilty.

  15. Meanwhile, the 2003 investigation is making progress

UPDATE: just examined the Criminal Code. For those who are unfamiliar, I believe they could be looking at charges of sexual assault causing bodily harm, with between 4-14 years imprisonment if convicted (the Code states a minimum of 4 years imprisonment if non-restricted weapons e.g. golf clubs are involved in the assault; 5 years if the victim is under 16 (the victim was 20 at the time). As for aggravated sexual assault, the Crown has to prove that the accused actually endangered the life of the victim, which was not the case (while they did threaten the woman, they did not actually follow through).

Most likely scenario if convicted: 6 years imprisonment, 20 year SOIRA (Sex Offender Information Registration Act) order, DNA order, no contact order with victim, co-accused, or the 2018 WJC roster, passport revocation & likely 10-year ban (an SOIRA order itself does not bar someone from leaving Canada unless the victim was a minor, but they must inform their supervisor before doing so. There is a loophole, however, as to where they plan on travelling, meaning that their hockey careers as a whole would end.)

Now for those unfamiliar with Canada sentencing guidelines: someone who is sentenced to imprisonment is eligible to apply for full parole after serving 1/3 of their sentence (day parole 6 months beforehand); eligible for statutory release with community supervision after 2/3 of sentence until expiration. By the time their sentences expire, they would very likely be in their early to mid 30s, effectively ending their careers unless they choose to go to Europe, likely the KHL (e.g. Slava Voynov, Jake Virtanen, Brendan Leipsic (even though he was never charged) or even Slovakia (e.g. Mitch Miller, Carson Brière))

As for their USA status, assuming they manage to obtain a passport afterwards, they would be rendered inadmissible to the USA. They can, however, circumvent this by applying for a US Entry Waiver (they do not recognize Canadian record suspensions; the inadmissibility took effect after 9/11), but this can cost upwards of a thousand dollars and take up to a year for a decision to be made. This requires renewal on a yearly basis, however.

TL;DR, they would face significant hurdles to resuming their hockey careers, but it would still be possible, even if it is not in the NHL. Even if acquitted, public opinion would decide otherwise.

  16. Hockey Canada has a lot of negative news already and looks even more horrible trying to sweep this under the rug. Now with these 5 players in the NHL it’s going to make the NHL look bad

  17. I'm assuming since no one is talking about the victim it must be a male player that got raped. Sadly this is actually common in sports. Gay rape happens way more than people think in the locker room. Most teams cover it up with millions to silence everyone involved and then it happens again.

  18. These stupid idiots need to be held accountable to the end. wtf is wrong with these dudes that feel they can take advantage of someone

  19. Even if they are not convicted, the messy details are pretty horrible. The NHL team, sponsors, etc. would have a hard time celebrating any of these individuals… unless they truly were not there and were misidentified. Think about it – if the presence of consent was founded, it doesn't make it all better for what these players did. And when people use age as an excuse, we know that doesn't stick. You have 5 year-olds who know right from wrong, and you have adults who don't. Plus if they said they were there but left confused, did you bring up any concerns with anyone? Let's see how things play out, but charges also are laid randomly. Accountability is important, but hopefully everyone has access to mental health resources (including these players families) because this will continue to be a very bumpy road.

  20. 3.55 Million dollars in Hush money tell me everything I suspect happened…. Regardless, of the reason why she was there. Higher tier humans shouldnt be prior in society compared to ordinary people. All of these allegations i interrupt, as guilty and how can i can save my career.

  21. What if the men were guilty of a criminal action, get a token jail term and community service. Will you fans then accept them back? If not, why one standard for them and another for your criminal politicians that violatr agreements with foreign powers, blow up their pipelines, start unnecessary wars with thousands upon thousands of casualties and destroyed lives, are still in office and yet you vote for them again(both american parties) and yet seem to get a pass? Unaccountable.

  22. I feel bad for these guys…everyone knows you should never have sex in London or with anyone from London. At the time she was ok with it..
Immediately after she was still ok with it… How she felt about it couple days later is not on them. Obviously if they are forcibly/ threatening or preventing her to leave in that's f'd up.

  23. Tread carefully with your comments , you are speaking on a dangerous subject that could result in law suits

  24. But you said in the previous video it was a mental health break. Quite the coincidence that Dube and Hart both left at the same time. Yet you still called it a mental health break.
