Trades is what rush rebuilds and you can see how it does not work (Ottawa) but if we go to the NBA the best example of a rebuilding team that is just solidifying the team through the Draft is OKC thunder they still got like 14 picks in 2 drafts which is insane. Only rebuild no trades and that team is looking dominant for the next 10 years and then the cap frees up and u can make moves then but the rebuild needs to be completed. U DONT CUT CORNERS.

Don't like the Konecny trade. I still believe in building through the draft. I feel Hughes missed out a on great opportunity to move Anderson during last years trade deadline. To me Beck and Struble are keepers, and there is no guarantee Konecny would resign anyways. Plus, I hate trading first round picks, unless you are getting a topline talent that you can build around.

Armia has been amazing this year. Most guys at this point of their career would let getting sent to the AHL ruin them. He got humbled and took it like a professional. Went down and focused on playing the best hockey of his career. I Wish him luck wherever he goes.
How is Anderson's contract hurting us? Maybe in the last year, but we have room now. Without a guaranteed extension for Konecny, this would be a mega-disaster. It's too much for him, and we don't need DesLauriers.
Pass on Konecny for me. Do you think we are at a point where we should be trading picks and prospects for a top 6 forward? Im not sure I keep flip floping.
C'mon. Konecny? We have PLENTY of 2nd/3rd line prospects already. Why should we trade anything serious for a second-rate version of a guy we already gave away for diddly squat? (i.e. Toffoli).
Biggest story today is Guhle going down…yet AGAIN. We need him to be a core of our team moving forward. And be able to stay healthy. 😬

You may not remember fellas but I've been saying for a long time Joel Armia has been playing so good he deserve to be on the overtime against the bruins remember I said that yep there's a few things to be said about his play his defensive and offensive I'm glad to see it I hope he comes back next season with his head screwed on right and ready to go He's a star.

Guys, it's Slovak/Slovaks not Slovakian/Slovakians. The adjective is derived from the official name of the country which is Slovak Republic not Slovakia thus it should be Slovak player, fellow Slovak etc. Konecny trade is a no for me, trading to rebuild is a bad idea, some teams did the same and they are absolutely useless even after several years. I'm looking at you Ottawa!
Flyers want to be a playoff team. No way they trade an established player for magic beans.
Although I was disappointed when Deslaurier left, that ship has sailed. Besides, we have Xhekaj, Pezzetta and Anderson for toughness. I know people have been down on Anderson but he is an intimidating presence on the ice. The hits, fights and intimidation are underrated IMO.
I don’t like Konecney at 5’10 and we are in no rush. We are competitive now and if we are patient, we will be competitive for years to come.
Let’s take this time see the cream rise to the top. The players will make it obvious who we should keep and the rest with fetch us more and they will be valuable to others

When the dust settles on the defensive situation in Montreal, sometime around next year's trade deadline, we will have lost 2 or 3 good defensemen is my guess. Watching these players succeed will be difficult but remember how much you like them now. There are 10-12 defensemen that probably could play in the NHL, with 8 on the roster and at least 3 coming up that are sure to start somewhere in the near future. Kent could pull off the trade of the century with his assets. He could start 3 rookies, gambling on a slight delay to the rebuild to get that superstar. What if Edmonton falls flat on their face. What's Draisaitl gonna think? Free agency after next year? There are huge names as UFAs next Summer. Mr. Hughes is drooling. But it will sting.
