Getting a penalty for instigating? I mean I understand if he walks over and grabs him and there is no fight thus delaying the game but if the guy wants to fight and the other guy walks away and there was no delay to the game no penalty should be awarded. Thatโs Bs.

Look folks no way the NHL is going to stop old time hockey they have tried the last 7-8 years & yes it's made for amazing highlight reels but how much of that can you even take in? It's now every night every game in the league has highlight reels, But G D IT it's not NORMAL!
I don't know why people act like only dirty hits are a reason to fight. If a start player is knocked out of the game, that team should really just roll over and say do what you want to us? Johnson doesn't jump Eckholm, he doesn't get swarmed by multiple guys, he gets challenged to fight straight up. If you want to take shots at a guy that can cause injury even if its clean you should be able to fight someone who can hit back in response

Garbage officiating. Fine with the no call on a clean hit, but if you run a star player, which Mikko CLEARLY is, and you don't answer for it, YOUR star players, McDavid, or Leon Draisaitil are going to be fair game, and people will run them. Just answer the bell. You don't have to take on a goon or an enforcer, but when a skill player challenges you for running his teammate, you better answer or you will be looked down upon. I lost a TON of respect for Ekholm here. I hope the next time the teams play, McDavid is dropped with a vicious, clean hit, and they learn their lesson. I would also like to add that I am a Bruins fan, and have no horse in this race.
Textbook clean hit with an unfortunate outcome thats it. As someone from Finland i feel so bad for Mikko no doubt thats a concussion its pretty easy to tell from their body language he hit his head hard to the ice just very unfortunate scenario never would wanna see it happen to any player on any team.
Clean hit. Elbows down, didn't head hunt, didn't leave his feet, wasn't even skating that fast. Just 2 solid athletes colliding…I get why an Av's fan would be pissed off. Rantanen is one of their better forwards….That said, they play again before the end of the year. Ekholm is not a dirty player, and it was not a dirty hit….. We will see if their is a fight then.
I really hate seeing players hurt on clean hits, especially when it ends up in major injuries. Not much Ekholm should've done differently, and it's just unfortunate the way Rantanen landed.
So why don't the AVs ,Jack Johnson or whoever, TAKE HIS NUMBER FOR LATER??!? Anyone remember how to do that? Probably not,.because so few guys are willing or even able to deliver a hit today. Its always a stupid scrum, seldom a good actual fight more of just "see boys, look what im doing see!? Take notice!" ๐

Too many fights after a clean hit isn't right, it takes hits away from the NHL if everyone is worried they have to fight after a clean hit.
