Can we resign Steve Mason please? He’s the best goalie I can remember in my life, yes, that Steve Mason.
First the Phillies get to the NLCS, then shit the bed losing games 5 and 6, AT HOME, to 84-win Arizona, to end the season. Then the Eagles start 10-1 and shit the bed losing 6 of their last 7, to mostly bad teams, to end the season. Then the Flyers get to game 70 with an 89% chance to make the playoffs, but shit the bed losing 7 straight games, to mostly bad teams, to end the season.
Why do I keep putting myself through this? For 45 years of 5-for-5 Philly sportsfanhood — that’s 197 seasons with a potential championship — all I got to show for it is one Sixers championship (when I was young and barely paid attention), one Phillies championship, and one Eagles championship.
Is there a worse return on investment than being a Philly sports fan?It’s just not worth it. I really need to sign up for SFA (Sports Fans Anonymous) and take up more rewarding pasttimes. Because all being a Philly sports fan gives me year after year after decade after decade…is failure and misery.
