Who is the most to blame for the Flyers’ collapse? | PHLY Sports

A lot can happen in seven games, that’s for sure.

Two weeks ago, the Philadelphia Flyers were holding onto a playoff spot with a much easier stretch of games to close the season. However, with disappointing losses to Montreal, Chicago, and what’s undoubtedly the worst one of them all to Columbus, the Flyers are now on the brink of missing the postseason.

Who’s to blame for the Flyers’ collapse? JP, Charlie, and Kelly discuss five possible options.

0:22 – Goaltending

5:35 – John Tortorella

16:07 – Blue Line

23:09 – GM Danny Briere

28:17 – Other factors: fatigue, Carter Hart situation

  1. Goalies, team defense, power play/offense not finishing, then torts. We’d have 4 points at least without the Sandstrom/Peterson debacles

  2. I think trading walker and all the injuries and the fact that there goalies suck rite now but still a great season to build of of I’m excited for next year

  3. I expect dumb stuff from the other two but disappointed in Charlie. This is not a playoff team. I have been saying all season the flyers were playing at playoff intensity to make up for lack of talent. The rest of the league starts playing after the break and mostly the last 20 games. Coincidence the flyers are losing NOW? The roster has the same deficiencies. No defense depth . No centers. Players who want to be "snipers" who can play "hard" but make "business decisions" in their own end.

  4. When a team has a very bad PP with a gassed defence and goaltender, there's no surprise that this team is doing a 1964 Phillies drop. Tortorella blasting his team with the use of "tough-love" didn't work, but Tort's is still a great coach, but he needs an assistant on his staff that focuses on the PP. Who Tort's has relied on most is Shaw, who's in charge of the D.
As for the #79 situation, screw Hart forever! I never want him to return to the organisation. I like the two Russian goalies, and I love Ersson! Sam E is just gassed.

  5. I blame the holdovers from the giroux era. Those losers have had 10 game losing streaks across multiple coaches… Konecny, Laughton, coots.. these guys aren’t real leadership material. ✌️

  6. the collapse is simple. just a bad roster w a lack of talent. cant blame torts at all. Charlie is the only person here who understands the game
