Could you imagine Stamkos playing one year for leafs for cheap? That would be sick! Ditch Tavares for Stamkos.
No big free agents would play in Montreal, Stamkos for example would never sign there even for 15 mill per season, team has no chance to win and media and fans are crazy, they will boo you every shift you don’t score. They booed Ken Dryden who won 5-6 cups in 10 years his final season if he gave up a few goals. The Montreal media would write 300 articles about you if he didn’t score for a few games. Seriously, no top free agents will ever sign there, taxes are 54% and will always go up with dictator of Canada running the country into the ground

Sure Tavares isn't playing to his contract but it's absolutely nonsense that he will be traded. He isn't waiving his NMC, and really what team would that on he would be agreeable to traded to, wants his play/cap.

Love Tavares but I think the answer is an extension but for less than 3m.He has the big money already but at the same time maybe its time to move on to a new Captain even though Tavares has been their best Captain for many years.Maybe making Mathews Captain will get him more engaged than in just scoring goals.

Tavares is going nowhere. His wife runs the show, she’s a Pork Chop like him, she has family in the Toronto area and doesn’t want to relocate. When his contract is up, he either retires or resigns with the down trodden Leafs at a much reduced salary, again because of his domineering wife. She is the one reason he came to Toronto when he could have gotten more salary elsewhere. She wears the pants in that family, Tavares is a pansie player like Marner, Nylander and Flaring Nostrils Freddie Mercury look-a-like Matthews. Leafs are a perfect fit for him, a pansie team.
Anderson and Gallagher's contracts are almost done. Anderson is tradable with Habs eating 25-50% of his contract, which is no longer a problem. Mtl is in a good situation as they need the room in 2026, not 2025. Gally will likely bought out in 2026, if he's not on LTIR. With Gallys injury history, LTIR was almost a certainty last year, now it's just highly likely. Armia can be a good person to resign 2-2.5M, not sure if they will walkaway from him. He has a better mind set and they need his size/ability.
