Brutal game. Nobody was ready to start like usual and those first 10 killed any chance they had left. Should be unacceptable to start 3-0 and you cant even blame UPL because he, like always, was the one keeping us in the game. Pretty sure we would be first in the Atlantic if every early game things got out of hand were flipped

  2. PrinciplesRK

Alex Lyon and ending the Sabres season, name a more iconic duo

Didn’t allow an empty netter HANG THE BANNER

Anyways it sucks the Red Wings dashed our 1% hopes twice here at the end, but the team should have never been put in such desperation mode if they actually took the first 50 games of the season seriously

  4. ScotiaTailwagger

    Sigh……

    That’s all. That’s the comment.

  5. TheBlubbedOne26

Literally lost the game in the first 10mins…*again*…

  6. Sabres have now been scored on in the first 5 min of a game 30 times this season.

And now -36 in the 1st period for scoring differential.

And have surrendered the 1st goal 46 times.

It doesn’t matter how well you play when you put yourself in a hole 5 minutes into the game 1/3rd the time.

  7. Kanine_tv

Another year of wasted potential. Thanks Pegula

  8. stickscall

I’m sure they’ll, like, learn a lesson from this and be better for it going forward.

  9. Oregano_Nate

Why do they need to be scored on before they realize the game actually started

  10. RefereeMason

Can’t wait for July 1st so we can be on Granato’s next contract!

  11. BuffaloBillsfan04

Team is young. They’ll learn. Run it back next season. System is working. I love Pegula. Next year is the year!

  12. xBialyOrzel

It’s time to move on from Granato. 3 goals in the first what 5 minutes? How many times are we going to go down and take ourselves out of the game in the first 5 minutes before the GM realizes these guys aren’t coming to play for or with Granato. Fire the entire coaching staff except Mike Bales and start fresh and with optimism next season.

  13. Oh I forget this game was at 1pm.

Looks like the team did too, strong roll into work 15 minutes late and hope nobody notices energy.

  14. Straight_Landscape37

Same story as last season where they sleepwalk for the first 3 months of the season, remembered they could be a playoff team in January, but by the time we’re losing games in late March/early April it’s a little too late.

Literally just play like we have from January-onwards for the entirety of the season next year and we’ll be good.

  15. serious_man_13

Finally the playoffs talks can end and we can now turn our attention to hope that the Sabres lose the next 4 games with a goal differential of at least -20 to force Granato and his joke coaching staff out of town.

“Starting today, the Buffalo Sabres’ reason for existence will be to win a Stanley Cup.”

    13 years later…

  17. CrunchMan94

To go along with the TNT intermission talk about Power, what was the rush to bring him straight to the NHL and then give him a big contract? Is that just the standard with high picks now to show them you’re committed to them?

  18. Sgt-Pumpernickel

Correct me if I’m wrong, but they have only won 2 matinee games this year? Colorado and Edmonton right?

  19. LetsGetLitPlease

There’s way too much focus on being family and loving buffalo and not enough on being accountable. They play at the same intensity as they did in preseason. It’s Sunday beer league hockey. It’s a joke. I had minor hockey coaches who held us to a higher standard than Granato does to this team.

No accountability from Pegula, which leads to no accountability from Adams, which leads to no accountability from Granato.

  20. Please get new coaching and get rid of skinner 🙏

  21. Sabres8127

I hope they can do something about their first period goal differential next season. That really killed the Sabres chances for anything meaningful, like say a playoff appearance.

  22. edit-the-sad-parts

Welp, I s’pose that’s it then. Hope y’all are ready to see almost the exact same team and coaching staff next October

Go Amerks. Hope Levi can go on a run

  23. andyouarenotme

If they play like they did in the last two periods night in and night out, there would be no issue. The problem is this coach is a bystander. Really feels like the players take it into their own hands to play with desperation — and always when it’s too late. Last year felt the same way honestly.

A real coach has this team playing so much better. I’m sick of Greenway anywhere other than the 4th line. I’m honestly sick of the powerplay. I’m sick of how unprepared they look to start games — especially games that require mental fortitude (afternoon games, back-to-back games, games where we’re trailing). There is no point in keeping this schmuck, and the problem isn’t just him. Adams is clueless as well.

  24. RecommendationOk4148

I am going to take solace in the fact that 71, 50, 28, 17 and maybe even 19 won’t be back with us next season. Huge opportunity to change the make-up of this forward group. What does Adams do?

  25. 360degreesofFUNK

We should all be starting to think that the playoffs are really just a hyper-exclusive club that only the Sabres aren’t allowed to be in

  26. Great-Reference9322

It was a terrible run boys, I’ll see ya next season

  27. BronusSwagner

Another game they were categorically not ready to play, and, yet again, it cost them.

It’s literally the coach. Granato has been the problem the entire season. It’s pathetic he lasted beyond the debacle in Columbus to begin with, much less the rest of the season. This is not a serious organization.

  28. OdoriferousGasBag

    Surprise!!! Nice first period Buffalo.

Someone pass this along to the team, coaching staff, GM, and/or owner: “Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.”

Congratulations on 13 years without a playoff appearance.

  29. -DrinkWithTheDead-

Fan Appreciation Night is going to be interesting.

  30. AgeOfTheExpandingMan

OK, who smoked all of the hopium? The bag’s empty

  31. JohnnyAppleseedMD

As much as coaching and upper mgt suck, when will the players and captains start holding themselves accountable and calling player only meetings or anyrhing to motivate themselves. It just seems alot of the players are just here for the paycheck.

  32. FesteringLion

Went for a hike about 3/4 through the 1st. Glad nothing else happened for the rest of the game. I don’t mind the loss (it fits the pattern we’ve all grown to know and love) as much as I mind the Red Wings win. Wings and Pens are to me what the Bruins and Leafs are to most of you (it’s complicated). I just want them to shit the bed enough to miss and not get a top pick… Just like we’re going to do, but worse. Is that too much to ask?

  33. New-Row7111

I go to college in Houston and last season, I made the 3.5 hr drive to Dallas when the Sabres were in town. Crazy that it never even occurred to want to go this year and it’s in two days; thankfully, I don’t think I’ll be missing out. This team got so depressing to watch over the last season and it hurts I have to watch the playoffs from the couch again after a 91 point season last year, which we won’t even meet this year. Being a fan of this team truly builds character.

  34. Be sure to cheer loudly for all the effort they are putting out on the ice, regardless of the score… And the hard earned money you spent to see them… In a really shitty economy…. Wearing your expensive sabres jersey… While they make millions to lose… They tried really really hard and deserve your cheers of support guys, c’mon!!

    Whoo hoo, great job Sabres!!

  35. BuffaloBillsfan04

    Great job Donny

    5v5 time

    Jordan Greenway 15:47

    Peyton Krebs 14:52

    Zach Benson 9:17

  36. DSquick16

Blah, this stinks. Gonna hope for better next year, like I always do.

  37. -MarchToTheSea-

Bum of a team.. they are good at crying tho
