how did starting raty in the nhl too early work for NYI? seems like a desperate move. he's not the answer to this coma the canucks are in.

Lekkerimaki might be Petey's long-term running mate, but not right now. He needs to learn the Canuck's system the way that Hoggy did. He needs to have a great camp and spend at least half a year in Abby before getting his chance with the big club. Once he makes the jump, he needs to spend some time in the bottom six, gaining his confidence against other teams' bottom six players. The problem with learning the Canucks' defensive system is that positioning has to become natural. Hoggy took off offensively and earned Tocchet's trust once he could stop thinking about where he was supposed to be on the ice, and just flowed there naturally. Pods is close to that as well, and I expect we will start to see some offensive production soon. When Karlsson had his cup of coffee, it was obvious that he struggled with positioning and overthinking. Those calling for Lekkerimaki right now aren't considering that he's just getting acclimated to the North American-sized ice surface from the larger European ice; the worst thing you could do is give him too much too soon. If you wanted to try a different winger with Petey, put Pods on his other wing, or try Raty or Karlsson, who are both on fire in Abby.
