Monday night, the Pittsburgh Penguins traveled north of the border to face off against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Starting the 1st period, both teams looked strong. Fast-paced hockey led to a momentum swing in favor of the Penguins. Evgeni Malkin collected the puck and Toronto swarmed him. Malkin dished the puck to Ricard Rakell in the slot. Collecting the pass with his feet as he drifted towards the dot, Rakell did a 360 and launched a rocket on the net to score his 200th career goal. Penguins held a 1-0 lead until mid-way through the 2nd period. Matthew Knies tied the game tipping a shot in the net. Auston Matthews broke the tie in the 3rd with a huge slap shot from the point three seconds into the Penguin’s penalty kill. More determined now, Pittsburgh started to buzz Toronto and generate quality chances. Sidney Crosby passed the puck to P.O Joseph at the point. Walking the blueline, Joseph ripped a shot on net. The puck trickled loose behind the goaltender where Drew O’Connor was waiting to slam it home, tying the game with seven minutes remaining. Overtime was needed to determine the winner. Jake McCabe scored for the Maple Leafs near the end of overtime to give them the 3-2 victory.

This thread is a reminder of the importance of women's voices in shaping the narrative.🍒
Jestem wdzięczna za możliwość uczenia się i rozwoju u boku tak genialnych kobiet.💋
Refs sucked that was not slashing then leafs get away with a couple penalties
Sullivan keeps going with Eller in ot and it hasn't worked yet.
Some poor officiating in this one. At least they grabbed a point!
Man bunting has been amazing since acquiring him
Pitsburgh is improving but why isn’t Crosby and rakhel up in ot first it should be Crosby karlson and rakhel or malkin rakhel and bunting
That second line is doing things—love to see it!
Why does a PP coach still have a job? Previous managements had higher standards and fired coaches for much less.
OC and eller both had a chance to change in OT. They were on their blue line go for the change. I'd rather be a step behind with the 3rd man and have a fresh anyone (sid was on the boards) then having 3 dead tired bodies.
Hard fought point vs one of the best teams. Red Wings next game. Bunting seems to have brought Malkin and Rackell back to life with chemistry and playoff intensity.
Even though a win would have been nice, this was SUCH a war to just get 1 point. You never know. That 1 point could be the point that gets the Pens into the playoffs.
I’ll take the point as pens working their butts off!!! Puck bounces your way at times. Keep fighting boys 🤘
Raise your hand if you’ve seen enough of Karlsson. 🤚🏻
