This team needs conditioning in the off-season how many blown 3rd periods and how many times during the game they look gassed

Yeah, we lost, but at the end of the day, the question is whether the boys had fun.
Because we sure as fuck didn’t.
We knew it was over. Crazy it actually took this long. What a mess of a season filled with “what ifs”. When the Devils were down 0-2 to the Rangers last playoffs my son was bummed (and so was I) and to make him (and myself) feel better I told him that the law of averages suggests that whatever went wrong in those first 2 games would balance out and they would bounce back. I didn’t really think that would wind up being true but then they DID come back to win that series. So I’m going to stick with that theory going into ‘24-25. The law of averages will balance out this season of unfortunate events and they will be back to winning and contending again.
Hopefully we finally get eliminated so I don’t have to hear the broadcast blow smoke up my ass about having a shot at the playoffs anymore.
For most of 2024 and the end of 2023 we all were like they are killing us by coming back and then not coming back all the way. Like really good and excited third periods. It’s like a complete turnaround the last 10 games or so.
It changed so abruptly. I wonder why.
Devils are finally eliminated with the Isles winning, the fact that it took this long shows you how bad most the Metro is.
At least we’re not the Flyers. Like Chirst dude, losing to the Habs 9-3? They just messed up their rebuild
We just don’t have nearly the fire power that Toronto has. Thoroughly out shot in each game although we managed to steal one. Next game will probably be a blow from the start.
I went in with zero expectations other than having fun since this was the last game of the season I’ll be able to attend and was still disappointed.
Last season was a fluke and the Devils are back to their long term trend, SHIT!
At the game, every goal was our fault
Never have I seen a defenseman so bad at defense yet so much fun on offense as Brendan smith, just make him a forward the rest of the season (he really is the pits on d…. Marino too)
Last year I was at Ottawa game when we clinched playoff , this year I’m at the rock for mathematic playoff elimination. Ugh.
Not sure if I should be insulted about the fan fest Monday for last home game.

We’ve Officially Been Eliminated from the ‘Yoffs:
* and somehow it was with three games remaining…like damn. the East was really the LEAST huh?
* not gonna do my usual game recap…
* disappointing season for sure. not what you wanted, what anyone wanted, after last season, after the hype from the off season, and looking at the roster we had to start.
* but it went down how it did and it never really looked like we got the hang of things.
* **injuries:** Miller, Nosek, Nico, Jack, Nosek again, Timo, Palat, Dougie, Jack again, Timo again, BSmith, Siegs, Nate, Siegs again, Lazar, Johnny, Johnny again.
* **Goaltending:** didn’t make the moves we needed to make in the off season and paid for it dearly. Akira is still developing. Daws is still developing. Got Kaapo and Jake Allen too late.
* **Players Falling off a Cliff:** some players backstepped so hard this season…Siegs, Vitek. real lack of consistency from Johnny, Bahl, Merce.
* **Lines:** we did not have a bottom six to speak of. we didn’t have a fourth line with any type of identity. not able to take advantage of line match ups because you didn’t have a true shut down line like we did last season. misusing players on wrong lines because we just didnt have the talent or the depth to truly give any line any real identity or role or anything.
* **Coaching:** I think we’ve beat the Lindy horse to death, but like Timo’s remarks from earlier, just really hit home how he was misusing players so blatantly. I feel like Luke’s defense also got better after Lindy left.
* **Aftermath of MM20:** not much to be said other the effect that had on the team, emotionally/mentally speaking. fuck him. I don’t miss his hockey. I don’t miss him. more so concerned about how a group of young guys have to deal with something like that and continue to play
* yes, there’s a lot to be critical of, there’s a lot of things that happened in games that have nothing to do with the above, but I truly don’t believe that this season is an indication that there’s something rotten at the core or some big inherent problem that needs to be fixed.
* yes, there are aspects of their games (slow starts, bad defensive zone play, etc) that needs to be addressed, but those are all fixable with the right coach.
* the talent on this team is immense and even in a god awful year you see that. Nico Hischier, who missed practically a month of hockey, has been so consistent and good for us since he returned in late November. Jesper Bratt is breaking his own records. Jack Hughes, who was playing with ONE arm, was still over a point per game player. Luke Hughes, beat the rookie defensemen record on the Devils and this was only his first year. Timo Meier, now that he has his game, even with being injured and his slow start, is going to be a fucking star in New Jersey. Simon Nemec is a god damn stud and we weren’t even really supposed to see him this year! The core. The core is good. The core is going to brilliant.
* we just need to figure out some of our supporting cast. gotta get that coach, gotta get that goalie. I love guys like Haula and Lazar and Nate, can see those guys in our bottom six. You know Dawson Mercer is a part of our future. He had a pretty mid season, but his ceiling is so high. And then of course, what do we do about Alexander Holtz. I’m pretty bias and want him to stay a Devil.
* gotta figure out our bottom six, gotta shore up our defense…get some vet D presence.
* last season wasn’t a fluke. and this season isn’t what this team really is either.
still have three more games to play! so lets finish this up! this off season is going to be a doozy!
Went to 5 rock games this season and lost every one, including tonight. C’mon
Welp. It was cool being there to see Matthews break the active single season goal record.
Shout out to Jesper Bruhqvist, poor guy saw this shit team go 0-4 while he was in from Singapore
A girl in my section got hit in the face with a puck. There was blood all over the left side of her face. I hope she’s okay.
I honestly didn’t expect a different result for this game. Here’s to next season!

I took my wife to her first Devil game. She was amazed by Allen’s performance in net.
If Fitz hires Travis Green as the full time HC for next year (please, no!!!), we will be chanting ‘sorry Lindy’ again by Thanksgiving (and not because Lindy was the answer).
