I’d say the general mood of the Leafs subreddit is more akin to: “I don’t know man, lots of good but still plenty of questions. I guess we’ll see what happens”. Very few people are 100% convinced that this is our year.

To be fair, a lot of teams are like that, the bruins only lose in the second round every year because we can use the leafs as a speedbump

It’s funny as a leaf fan, with friends who are leafs fans, I’ve yet to hear any of us say “this is our year”. Ironically I hear other fans making fun of leafs fans by claiming we always say that. Usually fans of other Canadian teams.

The East has some pretty good teams and The Leafs likely would have to face a top Eastern team in every round to the Final. Not an easy chore. But every year a team gets hot at the right time. The Leafs have a better playoff roster, imo than in previous years ,so who knows

Yeah, no… I’m not there. I question our ability to close out games with leads, not to mention digging in and coming back from behind. This doesn’t feel like a playoff team and hope beyond anything they prove me wrong.

It really sucks, because the Leafs are a great team and have been pretty consistent the past few years. Yes of course they’ve had their hiccups, and they’re fun to clown on, but if they didn’t get pit against juggernauts every year early on, they’d probably make it pretty far. I know true contenders are supposed to be able to beat anyone, but going first round against titans like Boston and Tampa in previous years is still gonna have a chance to knock out any great team. I feel for them
