Does 70 goals guarantee Matthews the Ted Lindsay Award?

If Auston Matthews hits the 70-goal mark, does that guarantee him the Ted Lindsay Award? Has Ilya Samsonov proven he can deliver in the playoffs? Should the timing of voting on the Jack Adams Award change? The Leafs on TSN panel answer these questions and more in The Quiz.

  1. The answers given by this panel may prove to be correct. But let's be honest. All three of these panel members are known Leafs homers.

  2. These guys know damn well that the leafs will get bounced out of the playoffs again!! That's why they HAVE to grasp on to individual honors. We all know the truth!

  3. Anybody who remembers Ted Lindsay knows how ironic it is that Teddy would be mentioned in the same conversation as Matthews, McDavid, Kucherov or MacKinnon.

  4. 70 goals is insane, and since Marner went out Matthews has been incredible. However, McDavid/Kucherov/McKinnon still had better seasons – the gap narrowed but Matthews is still slightly below that group

  5. No. Factually 100 assists in a season is more outstanding, and it's not even close. Only been done by Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr. THATS IT!! Way too many players have scored 70 goals. Sorry

  6. Also, the NHL player poll literally just came out, and McDavid was overwhelming voted the best player in the game it was a LANDSLIDE. Matthews didn't even make top 5. Once again… Sorry.
