HOLLYWOOD! Post-Game Recap: Oilers 5, Golden Knights 1

The Edmonton Oilers depth scoring came through in the absence of Connor McDavid with Zach Hyman, Cody Ceci, Mattias Ekholm, Leon Draisaitl all potting goals tonight. Dylan Holloway also scored in his return to the NHL lineup as Edmonton suffocated the Vegas Golden Knights all night, giving up just 20 shots on goal in a massive 5-1 win to keep their hopes of a Pacific Division title in play. More importantly though, the #oilers proved that even without their best player, they have what it takes to play a full 60 minutes and can beat anybody. Let’s Go Oilers! #goldenknights #nhl

  1. Well it looks like the Oilers are still super good without McDavid. Mopped the current Cup Champs. LFG Oilers! As much as I want the Habs to get back the Cup for Canada, it's not happening. At least not in the next 5 years. And the Oilers have one of my favorite active NHLers. Perry. Even with the drama he manages to be very gritty and rough with great offense.

  2. Lol did I get in your head about the Victory Chain lol lol i am kidding, it would have been amazing if it was an shutout but ooo well this was really good game and played as a team even without McDavid and Draisaitl took the leadership roll and did very well. Love the content and keep up the good work 😊

  3. I love that there are no backhanded comments when it comes to the players. You recognize a player is starting to show their potential and not focus on the past negative aspects. Respect on the humility shown.

Awesome content Austin great breakdown as always!

  4. Is Draisaitl's Executioner shot the most memorable play in the history of hockey? Arguably more memorable than Ovi's one timer.

  5. Personally I send down Derek Ryan or janmark purely because I'm a brown fan since the beginning. And I feel like carrick is the best option for a 4th line center.

  6. Vegas looked a little lost out there. Far cry from last game when Vegas shut them down at every single move. When I said 4-3 Oilers in overtime, I meant 5-1 Oilers in a shellacking.

  7. Would I be crazy for thinking that keeping the third line together and putting Henrique at 4C when Connor comes back could work? It would make their center depth really good and would give Holloway a real shot at the third line spot.

  8. Loved the effort tonight, the Oilers proved that they can win convincingly even without their best player! Holloway should not be sent back down and should be kept in the lineup, he played a fantastic game tonight and we need his speed and work ethic in the lineup. Minus the goal against and a couple mistakes here and there, that was one of the best defensive performances out of the Oilers this year. I really hope that they play like they did tonight and in games like the 4-1 win over the Kings when the playoffs start. If they do, the Cup has a good chance of coming to Edmonton. GO OILERS!!!!

  9. It’s crazy to think the oilers own their own destiny in the pacific now.

And while 5 straight W is a tough ask, it’s not out of the question. Could be the first Pacific win since it became the pacific (and since I’ve been alive by quite a bit)

  10. Massive win!! I'm so happy for Hollywood but let me say that Clouder is so important to that team and is a bit underrated. Kudos for him as well!!

  11. Proud of the guys tonight, Every player stepped up in McDavid’s absence and played an incredible team game. No need to rush Connor back now,

  12. That was an unexpected blowout! Still a lot of sloppy play but I think the boys knew they had to prove they don't need to rely on McD to win. Loved it!

  13. The only negative is Nurse's lapses. Allowed a few odd man rushes and 2 breakaways. Cost Stu the shutout. But still a good team game.
