  1. Not the time for "safe" hockey. Let's go balls to the wall, all in, bust your ass hockey if you want to keep playing.

  2. I'm with D man. You gotta win all 4 GAMES, but you gotta get this game tonight first. Focus. This really is the only chance the Wings have, and it's still not a guarantee to getting the 2nd wildcard spot.

  3. Just remember, we were 7th in the division at the end of last season. If we finish 4th or 5th in the division at the end of the season, that's progress. We're a better team than we were at the end of last season. Is it disappointing to miss the playoffs after playing so well? Yes. Is it house-cleaning time? No.

  4. It doesn't matter. Even if they make the playoffs, they'll lose in the first round regardless of who they play. The team as presently constructed, has proven over the course of the season just how far they still have to go to once again be relevant.

  5. From just south of Jacksonville, Florida, having been a transplant as a native Detroiter since 1987, and watching on TV, cable,or streaming, some of the best games the Wings have played in their history during the 90s and early 2000s, my prayers 🙏 and hopes go out to the most successful original 6 team, the Red Wings, in the US since the birth of the NHL. I have been a stark critic of the Wings organization b/c I love this team. Growing up with the Wings, Tigers, Pistons, and Lions, Detroit sports fans are arguably the best fans of their teams in the US, if not in the world. The cold weather, for the most part, got me outta there 35 years ago. But I still love my sports teams andy criticisms come from the heart to favor those winning of organizations like the Wings. Anyhow, LGRW! Regardless of what happens either making the playoffs or not, serious consideration must be given to letting go of Lalonde and his assistants. And the several of the rentals and/or UFAs need to not be in a Wings uniform next season, guaranteed. Doing so will get the Wings nowhere. Anyhow, LGRW from sunny Northeast Florida!!!!

  6. If we win tonight? Cool. If we lose tonight? Cool. Look, we're playing meaningful hockey in the month of April for the first time since… what? 2016? I'm happy with how far this team has come in such a short time, and if the right roster moves get done this summer, we should continue that forward push. Maybe next season, we'll clinch a playoff spot in March instead of playing a game of hot potato with four other teams for that last wild card spot.

The whiners can cry about Lalonde and Stevie all they want, they only prove they didn't ever actually listen to what those two guys said.

  7. These are the problems or blind spots the Wings have as I see it. There are some good things they are doing, but if we want to get back on top, I think this is what we need to see.

    1. Scoring: We do not have a single Elite player. We have some good players on offence, some decent players on Defense. Larkin and Kane and a couple others are really good goal scorers, but they are not Austin Matthews or Nakita Kucherov or Connor McJesus. Kane used to be an Elite scorer but I do not think he is there anymore. Not saying he isn’t good but he isn’t at the level he used to be. We need at least one, preferably two elite goal scorers. If you look at the 20 years we were a dynasty, we had about 5 maybe more elite goal scorers.

    2. Physicality: this Is one area where I think the wings are completely worthless in. We do not have a single player who is really physical. There are reasons why the Leafs, Bruins, and Florida are at the top of the pecking order and one of them their physical play. Again, If you look at the 20 years we were a dynasty and we were one of the most physical teams in the league. Even Larionov and Yzerman would get physical once in a while. Right now rather than laying people on their backs, we pull up and skate around them. Like seriously, lay that hit on them and let them know they are playing the Detroit Red Wings. . We do not have a single enforcer on our team. we allow ourselves to get thrown around the ice by teams that are really physical Again, in the 20 years we had a dynasty, we had numerous enforcers and EVERYONE on the team got physical and laid out the hits.

    3. Defense: our defense absolutely sucks. We don’t hit, we don’t win puck battles in our zone, We need some solid defensive players. I love that we got Petry, the son of a hometown hero, but he is just an OK defenseman. We need better defensemen.

    4. The Crease: for the love of all that is holy, stop giving up the crease freely. If a player is gonna set up in front of the crease, he needs to know, he is going to pay a heavy price for that sliver of ice. Right now they set up there without fear or consequence. Remember the punishment Holmstrom used to take for the team to set up in the crease?

    5. Shooting: last night’s game against the caps was the highest shooting we have had in a long long time. However, it is pretty comment to leave the first period with less that 10 shot, usually it is only 5 or 6. We have gotta put pucks on goal.

    6. Coaching: Lalonde has got to go. He is not making any adjustments to play. There was no change when we were on that eternal losing streak. No firing up the players. Nothing.

    7. Enthusiasm: it makes me sick when I see the team come out and they are skating like they are dragging parachutes and then in the waning seconds of the game it is like it is a totally different team out there. They turn on the jets, the passing is on point and they are putting shots on net. If they can do that in the final minutes of the game then they can do that for the entire game.

  8. Who cares they fucking blew it. I’m tired of this. I’ve been over it for a couple weeks now. I can’t stand our coach. The big boy players that were signed to score goals like cat aren’t doing it and the defense is atrocious. On top of all thatlast three weeks they showed no heart until here. We are the last second now they care.

  9. If Larkin pounds Sydney in a fight early I predict Eastern Conference Final. If I’m right DeMac has to let me buy him lunch
