Why in the hell would they trade these guys. A new city to the nhl is definitely going to need some talent to give them something to cheer for. Why would they blow it all up for no reason before their first season?????
Well, the expansion for Murelo has a caviot that a proper arena is in place before he gets another team. So, really, it gets Smith the team he wants and gives Murelo a longer time frame to secure an arena with less of a spotlight.

lol SLC is not cold, if you can't tolerate high 40s and mid 50s in the dead of winter the only places you'd find comfortable are the deep south and Florida, even the desert gets "cold" in the winter

Utah is a Mormon state for sure, but SLC is very diverse, ethnically and religiously. There’s a lot to do in SLC and Utah in general. Drinking laws aren’t as strict as people make it out to be.
If you’re a player that went to the coyotes and bought a house thinking it was the long term place you would be, then you’re dumb as rocks. Everyone knew relocation was inevitable.
