Devils Scored a Touchdown on The Flyers in The Stadium Series…Nico Hischier’s Energy Led The Way

The highly anticipated Stadium Series at MetLife Stadium did not disappoint. The New Jersey Devils defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 6-3 in arguably their biggest game of the year so far. Both Nico’s led the way. Nico Hischier walked away with three points and Nico Daws recorded the most saves in NHL outdoor hockey history. The Devils have collected seven points in their last five games.

  1. I agree with the Messier bit. I was in high school when Messier made the guaranteed win night statement. I thought that was trash from a marketing perspective for what was supposed to be showcasing a NJ Devils game. Love PK and his cheerleading for the Devils. As for this game, it was great to see. They need to now build off of this and go on a run. Let's Go Devils!!!

  2. The game was great, but the commentary was HORRIBLE. They barely discussed the action on the ice and there was very little enthusiasm imo.

  3. I agree with opening package. Did they even acknowledge the 3 Cups the Devils won? I don't remember, but i don't think so.
It was just amazing to hear the broadcasters say New Jersey. I'm a Giants fan too. Growing up, the broadcasters would never say NJ. They'd say they're live from New York or just the Meadowlands.

  4. Love him or hate him PK is a character, and it was just PK being PK. I liked it didn't mine the Messai thing. Wanna get the Ranger fans pissed just mention 1994 lol

  5. So glad I was there! One of the best games I've been to what an experience. A good team game and effort lead by captain Nico and held down by goalie Nico, with the Flyers making a great game of it as well. The post game interviews are wholesome you could tell it meant a lot to them getting that win for the home fans, and themselves. What a cherished memory everyone will have. First time seeing the PK locker room bit here, good stuff.

  6. It definitely wasn't a mistake that Espn and Messier disrespected the Devils. There's a long history of looking down on this team and the fans and Jersey in general. But all the more reason to fight hard and win.
I really enjoyed that game if I still lived in Jersey I would've gone for sure. I'm so glad the guys had fun and won. I loved when one of the reporters ask Šimon about Nico Hischier's game and he basically said yeah he always plays like that doesn't always score 2 goals but he's always playing like that. I think it was important because Nico does play hard and doesn't get a lot of recognition and people outside still don't get how important to the team he is. Lindy had some great comments about Nico too. And Bastiano's celly was legendary! 🤌

  7. Great win but with Smith scoring I'm guessing Lindy will tell Fitz to give him an 8 year 8 million extension. On a serious not Holtz played under 6 minutes. I'm afraid he's going to dealt for Markstrom. It will be a huge mistake but get ready for it.

  8. The officiating was horrible…. But I agree we just stopped skating in the 2nd…We keep doing that over and over and over. Nt sure how we change that tho

  9. It's a shame you couldn't get to attend. Agree with you that the presentation was a bit lacking. In that filmed segment with Tommy DeVito presented before the game, they mentioned NJD previously played at the Meadowlands and showed an old photo of the arena. Would it have killed them to show a shot of the arena still there? Also, if I was a producer, I would've sent a camera crew to ride the big Ferris Wheel at the American Dream mall to show the area from on high.

  10. With regard to the marketing of the game, why did the NHL schedule a whole bunch of games around the same time. In contrast, the were no other games this afternoon at the NYR vs NYI start time. Then they will say the Devils matchup got worse ratings but the NHL schedulers are pulling fans of other teams away to those games. Also, some will point out that the Battle of NY had about 80K in attendance but the Battle of the NJ Turnpike only had about 70K. However, Flyers fans may have been more likely to attend an earlier start than a game that ends around 11PM.
