  1. He really should go! USA seems to be bringing a pretty stacked group and doing well against them and in the rest of the tournament would really boost his chances for the 4 Nations and Olympics

We might see some friendships ended if Cole meets Nick in the finals. Tinted visors, sunglasses at night stuff.

  3. Only McKinnon, Rantanen, Trochek and Kucherov have played more minutes than Suzuki this season (forwards only). But they’re also all going into the NHL playoffs. It’d be good playoffs cardio practice for Suzuki to play at the Worlds. Though I’d understand if he would prefer to rest and not risk injuries. Tough dilemma.

Side note: Evans leads the NHL in PK minutes. By like 40 minutes on #2, which is an insanely high gap.

I’ll be honest and say that Nick has looked pretty terrible these past 3 games lol. I think fatigue finally caught up to him after playing great with little to no support for almost the entirety of the season. This was another difficult season with no real 2C (Dach injured since the beginning, Monahan traded away and Dvorak injured for most of the season).

Nick has an impressive ironman streak going. That’s got to take its toll. I will understand completely if he decides he needs to weaponize rest to the fullest, this offseason.

Iirc, Arpon adds some details to this in his podcast. Suzuki would like to go. But with Hockey Canada management declaring that participation in this tournament might make some players more favored in the upcoming Olympic selection, he’s surprisingly not sure he wants to go.

Basically, Suzuki doesn’t want to show up with the mindset that he has something to prove. Can’t really fault him for that.

Given how much he’s played I’d like to see him stay back.

If he doesn’t go I don’t think he makes the Olympic team. Hockey Canada loves the dudes that go to World’s. Hence Mike Smith being there somehow.

Kinda feels like Nick is given an ultimatum to join team Canada. Because he knows he wants to play at the 4-nations cup. Now, what Hockey Canada’s doing is make him think.
