Honestly this teams probably gonna be totally different next season, you got a lot of rentals on this team, that I wouldnt bring back, Kane, Perone, Veleno, Ghost, Fish, Sprong and Reimer, Kane only acceptation if its a cheap 1 to 2 year deal, other then that, im good on the ageing talent thanks, and take Newsy with you
This team is never gonna win until we start playing the edvinsson’s and kasper’s etc.. this team sucks I don’t know how nobody realizes this . Copp and compher are severly overpaid bottom 6 guys (no idea wtf Yzerman was thinking)
We have to get rid of some deadweight and play the kids . Debrincat like 1 goal in 20 games , he’s had a horrendous season. Deal him and go after a Sam Reinhart and fix that defence
Does it suck that they may fall short? Sure but if your not Able to appreciate the growth that this team has done. Then you sound entitled like your owed. That's not how it works. Also I really like how the coach talks about this team.He talks about it truthfully instead of trying to pander to fans.
You could combine the rosters of the Pens and the Wings,and you still wouldn’t be able to compete with the top teams in the east.
Goaltending is the problem.
When you let in six goals you are not going to win.. when's the last time you seen a Detroit goalie stand on his head and win a game for the wings? Washington's goalie won the game for them the other night..
Yzerman is a great GM .. except when it comes to picking coaches. Blashill and Uncle Fester are good assistant coaches and know the X's and O's- neither of them are good leaders who motivate or inspire anyone or know how to chew out someone who needs it. We need a Craig Berube or Gerard Gallant type who can be an a-hole at times when its needed.
Wings fans are desperate for any warm fuzzy feelings about the team. Setting the bar so low that a couple more wins is considered 12 months of success? Yzerman needs to stop micromanaging the coaching and hire an experienced head coach. Two rookie coaches in a row, failed. Get some objective eyes in the room with zero connection to the Wings. The team is an alum country club from top to bottom. Everyone has a job for life here, regardless of performance. Zero accountability. At this so called rate of progress, it will be 12-15 seasons before they improve more than other teams and be a Cup contender.
Yzerman needs to start paying for stars. Not paying for depth. Look at the top teams, they are very top heavy and then fill out their roster with depth.
