Posted this comparison a little over a month ago, and had people telling me to calm down lol.
Playoffs or no playoffs his play, and the play of Simon Edvinsson have me really excited for next season.
The numbers
Raymond’s first 3 seasons
236 games
171 points
Kucherovs’ first 3 seasons
211 games
149 points
Kucherov didn’t hit for over 70 points until his 4th season and Raymond is about to do just that in his third.
Kucherov had 30 goals in his 3rd season and Lucas Raymond is about to do just that (hopefully lol, he just needs 1 more in these last two games).
We are watching Lucas Raymond become elite right before our eyes.
We better hope the salary cap keeps going up, because this kid is about to get paid.
I generally don’t like 8 year deals, but this kid deserves one, and at 8 million per if the cap keeps going up this deal will be a friking steal in 3-4 years.

Raymond has such a high ceiling and I agree that this season we are truly seeing a heavy blossom
I think we could see him do 40g 50a in his prime but I don’t think he’ll get close to 120 points like Kucherov does, but I will be so happy if he does obviously
Lucas and Mo both have said that their dream is to sign a long contract and play together for a long time in Detroit.
Make it happen GMSY!
Better yet, get everything wrapped up on the same day so they can use their regular carpooling plans to sign the contracts and go out for a nice dinner afterwards. 😂
Lightning fan here, IDK much about Raymond but I think he is great. The thing about kucherov is how much he improved year to year.
He’s been the best player in many games this year, i can see him hitting 35-40gs consistently for a while
sign an 8×8 this off-season plz
I get that Raymond and kuch have similar comps in production from early in their career.
While yes I have high hopes for Raymond especially after his performance this year, I think comparing to kuch is a huge task.
Add that I think he really isn’t like kuch play style wise, kuch iq on offense is in a different league and his vision is also top notch.
To me Raymond reminds me more of like a Mitch marner kind of player who has good puck protection and usually is good at making the « right play » on offense.
Kuch on offense a lot of his plays are him doing crazy tight to areas that really only he can do cuz his offensive iq is through the roof, I don’t think Raymond is that, a man who takes high risk plays but has the skill set to do so.
But I will say that unlike marner Raymond is a way way better shooter and to me is a way better performer in the clutch.
TLDR: Raymond reminds me more of marner but a better shooter and more clutch that marner, which is still a top 10 winger in the game.
