Detroit Red Wings Playoff Scenarios + Game notes for other Teams

What Does Detroit need to do in order to get in the playoffs. Also Other teams Scheduled and game notes:

**Detroit (87 points):** Monday – Montreal, Tuesday @ Montreal

Game Notes: Montreal recently signed Lane Hudson and are trying to sign Luke Tuch, They have the 5th best odds at landing Macklin Celebrini, but with 2 wins that position could move down to 8th best odds at landing Macklin Celebrini. Montreal for the final 2 games could be more focused on the young guys (which Detroit could take advantage of). Flat out the Wings need to beat Montreal at least once (but more realistically need to beat them twice).

**Capitals 87 points currently)**: Monday- Boston, Tuesday @ Flyers

Game Notes: Boston is one point up on Florida for the 1st seed in the Atlantic, and Boston is 3 points back of the Rangers for 1st in conference. To ensure that Boston gets the 1st seed in the division (and not have to play Toronto), I expect them to play the Capitals hard (this would also ensure that Boston can rest guys on their final game).

For Game 2 with the Flyers, Torts always has his team playing hard, and depending on how things shake out (however unlikely) they might be playing for a playoff spot. Also I have to believe that Torts likes playing the spoiler.

**Pittsburg(86 points currently):** Monday – Nashville, Wednesday @ Islanders

Nashville is pretty much locked into their playoff seed as the first wild card (if Vegas lose a game in regulation that becomes a lock). This will also be the Preds last game. The Preds might want to rest, but with the long wait time before playoffs start, they might want to put out one final game in and secure their position with a victory (last point becomes mute if Colorado beats Vegas today in regulation). So its anyone guess with how the preds will play with a desperate Pittsburg team.

For Pittsburg vs Islanders – The intensity of this game might depend on Monday and Tuesday’s results. All I know is that Sydney Crosby doesn’t want Pit to do a rebuild and winning the last game might send a message to the front office that, if this team can improve their power play (something that can be fixed in the offseason and is currently 2nd last in the league) they can be in the playoffs next year.

**Flyers(87 points currently):** Wednesday – Washington

Whatever happens, I think Torts is game planning for Washington right now and is hoping to ruin their season. With the late season collapse, I think ruining another teams season might give Torts a good boost for the Flyers going into next season.

Islanders **(90 points currently):** Monday @ New Jersey, Wednesday Pittsburg

New Jersey is eliminated and Jack Hughes is done. With their team captain out, I could see New Jersey wanting to get one last win before seasons end (this is their last game). I see the rookies playing a bit more free, and they could squeak out a win (plus they do not want to shut out 2 games in a row to end the season)

Pittsburg vs Islanders: For this game I expect, no matter what, I expect Pittsburg to come out firing. The Islanders are really good at keeping games tight (which is why they have so many over time losses). If Pit can get a big jump, this game could be over in the first.

**IF Detroit Wins Out (bring Point total to 91) They can get in if:**

1. Washington gets 3/4 remaining points at best (so we need a regulation loss or an OT Loss from them).

* If Washington wins out then

1. Islanders can only get 1 out 4 points remaining at best (Red Wings would hold the advantage as Islanders and Wings both have same Regulations win (27)s, but Detroit has more ROW (37 to 36)).

**IF Detroit Gets 3/4 points remaining (Bringing Point total to 90) They can get in if:**

* If the Islanders get a point Then the following would need to happen:

1. Washington can only get a max, 2/4 remaining points
2. Pittsburg can only get 3/4 remaining points

* If the Islanders don’t get a point then the following needs to happen:

1. Pittsburg can get 4/4 points as long as Washington best result is getting a max 2/4 remaining points
2. Washington can either get 4/4 or 3/4 points remaining as long as Pittsburg at best gets 3/4 points

**If the Red wings get 2/4 points (bringing Point total to 89)**

They are eliminated (Washington and Philly play each other, and both teams hold the tie breaker over Detroit)
