Hey that was great and impromptu I couldn't hear at beginning and I had something important I had to do but couldn't finish…great show…
In their prime The Manassa Mauler wouldn't have stood a chance against The Galveston Giant. Seems to me Johnson fought better competition than Dempsey, simply because he met the best black fighters.
Good stuff as always …. interesting thought provoking – would have been a great prime vs prime match up
They both avoided Sam Langford. Both at prime it would be tough but Johnson may have had an edge. In just one fight flip a coin.
Hard fight to analyze because Jack Johnson along with most Black fighters had to fight under wraps. He was forced to carry opponents. Johnson was a bigger puncher than Gene Tunney. Could be a repeat of Johnson vs. Jefferies. Prime for prime I favor Johnson.
Absolutely. Also got beat up by John Lester Johnson and suffering broken ribs.
my opinion Dempsey wins easy, Jonson was great in his day but throws one punch at a time and clinches, No head movement fought with his chin up Johnson just fought in a older style and that's the way it was then. Dempsey threw combinations had head movement not one thing I can think of that Johnson was better at. The man that Knocked out Johnson (Willard) got killed by Dempsey. My respect for both Dempsey and Johnson both great fighters.
Dempsey beats him, and beats him fairly easily. JJ throwing one punch at a time would've been obliterated by Dempsy's combination punching.
