I don’t know anything about contracts/draft side of hockey: is there an advantage from his side to signing with the Jets vs any other team? A year from now he’s free to sign anywhere, correct?

I think it’s a good move for him. We don’t really have any openings in our line up. Especially if we keep Iafallo. Hoping lambert can fight for a spot in the lineup next year.

I’m shocked that McGroarty is staying. Nazar and Brindley are up and despite being a Hawks fan I thought McGroarty was the best on that Michigan squad.

Damn, was really hoping he’d sign so I could stop worrying we’ll never see him.

Hope that pays off, development-wise. Kinda thought he’d make the jump. Might have a few gaps in the roster next year

agreed, the right thing for him means the right thing for the jets, too. Good luck, Rutger!

I don’t get this from the player perspective.

While he *might* start with the Moose next year, I don’t think he would play there for long.

The writing is on the wall, I think that the Jets have to trade Iafallo this summer, I don’t think he fits into the cap with the Scheifele/Hellebuyck raises and the Perfetti extension. If we can get a 2nd for Iafallo I say we take it.

From Mcgroarty’s perspective, he’s leaving a lot of money on the table to go back to a Michigan team that is going to be worse than they were last year. Yes he gets to be captain, and yes, he can take a run at the Hobey Baker, but he could be leaving as much as $6m on the table.

I’m not talking about his ELC, I’m talking about his salary in the first year out of his ELC that he would be forfeiting by staying another year in college.

I think he’s making a mistake, but I’m just a guy on his couch.

Good for him, he wants to have a college experience.

You just know Chevy keeps a nice wine cellar, the guy has patience while I’m swilling plonk an hour after buying.
