Every game Matthews plays he risks injury. He's just as likely to get injured in game 1 of the playoffs as he is in game 82. So just play him.
I'd sit Matthew's against the pathers for prison rules, Maurice. Nobodys on the ice to win. But give him one final kick at the can against Tampa
Fly straight to Tampa, take a rest in the sun on the beach, then it's just a short trip to the other side of the state

Sit him vs Panthers; play him against the Lighting with Reeves in the lineup, sending the message that if you hurt Matthews, Reeves takes out your top guy, suspension be damned.
Play him 10-12 min tonight.

Since it is a competitive athlete, failure to reach a massive milestone by sitting out the two last games might mess with his head.
Hockey players don't sit, I don't think they should unless their hobbled with an injury, I remember getting cut that needed stitches but it was a tie game so they put a temp bandage and I played the 3rd period, after we won I got the stitches. It's hockey baby
How often do you get injured on the powerplay? put him in only for powerplays and if he scores bench/scratch for the rest of the season.
If it is ok Matthews continues with zero playoff runs – play Matthews.
UFC and NHL just naturally will remove a scoring threat like Matthews with physical play. 😀

Florida will try EVERYTHING to make sure he doesn't get a goal and hit 70. There that shallow.
Rest him against Florida, if he wants it, play him against Tampa.
Sit him against the panthers tonight and maybe play him against the lightning
Sit him against the Panthers, play him against the Lightning. The first sign of Tampa taking liberties with him, sit him except for the PP.
If he does play, better hope he scores or the team might carry that negative, unaccomplished feeling into the playoffs.

While 70 is just a number people are forgetting that sports are just entertainment and if they sit Matthews not only are fans going to get angry the Leafs could easily lose their momentum going into the playoffs. Also Matthews could easily get injured in game one of the playoff then there is no 70 points and the Leafs are in the same position. Let’s not forget the playoffs are all about the grinders and Matthews is not a grinder. Now once Matthews hit 70 take him off and let lose as many new guys as possible.
