Let's also not forget that the Pistons won as many games this season as the Lions (playoffs included).
Don't get it messed up. They've already achieved a more successful season than was expected. Also, they may take a small step back next season if they do what they need to with bringing in two or three rookies. Expecting them to definitely be a playoff team next season is aggressive. I hope they exceed expectations again and are firmly in a spot this time next season. That's not the expectation unless something drastic happens, though (e.g. sign a consistent goaltender).

The only downside is that they would probably be competitive in the playoffs if goaltending wasn’t just awful right now. Reimer has been decent but not going to cut it in the playoffs.
