Sabres need to be sold and leave Buffalo
Funny how viewership is at an all time high. I went from paying $50 a month just to watch hockey to $90 last sept, needing 3 subscriptions, so i cancelled it. Any satellite/cable package that included what i needed was like $150. Hopefully this espn deal thing i heard about goes through and brings that down a bit. I dont watch anything else so that much to realistically watch 6 games a week is dumb.
Greed wins, the rest of us pay the price at the gate. š
So glad NHL revenue is up. It feels like Hockey has no cultural relevance here in the US. Soccer is starting to take over as the kind of lead non traditional pro sport in the US. Even football has a 2nd league getting more hype than the NHL.

Had to happen. Loved Don as a person and development coach but he doesn't have that "run through a wall for him" part to his coaching. But I'm not totally happy because this will be 8 coaches since the playoff drought started, and they've missed on the hire every time.

The cool thing about the President's Trophy is that it proves that consistently try harding during the regular season isn't a good predictor of cup success. Teams you have seen chilling since the trade deadline or clawing up from the gutter will be scary.
Hey Shannon, this video got me thinking. When the league had major expansion in the past did we see overall league totals scoring wise go up or down? I am assuming they went up. It would be interesting to see a video on the comparison of eras pre and post expansions. Specifically looking at player totals. "Did Gretzky torch a watered down league?", "Could another expansion see McDavid push for 200 points against lesser talent in a 36 team league?"… etc.

We need a hockey coach the guys are going to respect, a hard assed but composed person. A leader needs to be able to command respect of the room through fear of failure not by raising their voice. So Torts types are a no go if even available. This team is not going to respect some random unqualified guy, they have been using that as a coach forever, it is tiring to see them do the same thing over and expect things to change.
Pass, team is crap with noob coaches.

Re: āFinding the puckā within the first 5 minutes if the first game I attended last year (Im a new fan to hockey) I found it much easier to track the players heads shoulders and hips to tell me where the puck was. They are reacting at all times. Even better is that I started noticing hits and checks i itherwise wouldnt have. That was my stock method of vieewing, especially in person, until over the course of the year developed a better eye for the puck. But even then i still choose to āzoom outā my focus from just the puck to the players on the ice.
SDPN recently had a guest on that said the cap system is bad for the league and doesnāt help parity at all. What do you think

U should do a video about the President's Trophy "Curse"… 8 cups in 38 years is a lot better than 1/16 (which would assume each team has an equal chance). It also resulted in 3 cup finals losses, which would be 11/38 times in the finals. That means the team winning the President's Trophy had close to a 1/3 chance to make the finals over the entire existence of the award. On the flip side, the winning team has only been bounced in the first round twice… It seems like more of a boon than a curse

The Granato firing is probably the right move but IMO, there was an underlying issue with roster construction for Buffalo this year.
Just too many young, soft-skill forwards injected in to the NHL lineup in one go. Does Kevyn Adams have a fix? He might not get to fire another HC

The TV ratings would be even better if the NHL didn't blackout so many games (especially in Colorado. No one in Colorado has been able to legally watch an Avalanche game for over 5 years now.)
Granato fired, surprised he wasnāt kicked upstairs but it sends a message to the borderline players that comprise the core of their team. The message needs to be āDonāt be complacent, we are willing to ship some guys out for future development.
Bill Zito is absolutely the greatest executive hire in the history of the Florida Panthers franchise and that is considering he has not won a Cup yet (given Florida's abysmal history prior to his hire) very happy to hear he will stay in the fold for years to come.
9:30 … The CBA says you can't increase the salary cap by more than 5% each year. If that wasn't an issue, the cap would be at over $96 million this summer. It is going to take two more years just to catch up to this level of revenue and with Utah in and Arizona out, I think they will hit $100 million as soon as the CBA allows.

The Bruins need to see how the team performs in the first round. The days of reckoning the Sabres are in now wonāt apply in Boston depending upon their performance in the playoffs.
Regarding the previews, an idea might be to wear the gear of the team you are cheering for in the series during the review then at the āprediction partā, edit to you wearing the jersey of the team you think will win.
I would be curious to see a video, now that the Arizona era is over, on the expansion and ownership of the 90s'00's. The NHL made a lot of bad choices with owners, that caused a lot of issues. Arizona being the last of it all. That it is not surprising and a good thing that once the NHL figured out how to find proper owners team fortunes started to turn around, both on and off the ice. Something a long the lines of "The NHL took a while but there is how they found the ownership formula"

"The President's Trophy Curse" is literally meaningless. 16 teams get into the playoffs. There's a 1 in 16 chance of winning the cup. So mathematically, the President's trophy should only technically win it all once every 16 years… what do we expect, them to win it every year?
Just a small observation; whenever you talk about the results of the game, essentially you read from the board and mention each score without getting into details. I love your channel but, when you talk about results, I donāt watch it because I can get the same info by looking at the results on the app.
Maybe try to analyze plays or go deeper into details of the game instead of just reading out loud the results?
