It’s a perfect microcosm of the season that the final wildcard spot was partially decided by substandard refereeing.
Everyone knows the referees tolerate 2-3 feet from the bench and the player in this case was touching the board all day, bad argument.
What’s not acceptable is Torts not knowing they were already eliminated.
As a Montreal fan, I really feel for the Wings. I was wishing they would make the playoffs. ON the plus side, i really love Lucas Raymond and his stock continues to rise.
Why does Washington get in over the Wings? They have the same number of points and Detroit actually has more wins (1).

The Canes are my number one team but I've always been a Wings fan too and seeing them miss the playoffs in this way genuinely bummed me out…

The unfortunate thing for the Caps is that playoff goals don't count toward's Gretzky's record. The fortunate thing for the Caps is that Ovi has a virtually 0% chance of being injured in the four games between now and his offseason.

I don’t think you guys can call it a screw up missed goal call, it was just really unlucky for the flyers. I don’t think eck really realizes the series we are about to get between the caps a rangers, everyone points out the goal diff but the caps can get down with just about anyone, they showed that in the season series against the rangers. It will be a fun series for sure

I'm a caps fan, so I'm happy, but honestly, this gets a little extra zest because Pittsburgh is out.
Man the Wings had me rooting for them these past couple weeks, some sick last minute goals and OT wins to keep the dream alive. Hopefully Larkin and Raymond can carry their play over to next season
I was watching the Nova Scotia Major Midget finals. In the fifth and final game a Macs winger shot the puck from a bad angle, the goalie squeezed it, the puck trickled through and snuck over the line and the ref immediately called it a no goal because he couldn’t see the puck. Immediately the Subaru goalie pulled the puck out of the net while the Mac players were cheering. The refs convened and despite the fact that there was no video replay changed the call to a goal.
They got the right call despite the wrong call on tue ice. Sometimes I wonder why refs can’t use common sense and do the same in the NHL.
