Red Wings reaction to not advancing to 2024 NHL playoffs, recap on season

“It’s hard, it’s gutting,” Dylan Larkin said after the Detroit Red Wings came up short in their goal of making the NHL playoffs after a multi-year absence.

We spoke with Larkin, David Perron, James Reimer, and Patrick Kane to get their reaction to the Capitals getting the final spot in the NHL Playoffs’; Eastern Conference bracket instead of them and to recap the Red Wings 2024 NHL season.

“There’s so much potential,” Kane said. “There’s no quit in this team.”

  1. Looking forward to the Kane contract news soon. What a great group. Super stoked to see them build on this next year.

  2. Dylan Larkin…man a true Captain…Wings are gonna get there…they know what has to be done…next year they are gonna get there!!!

  3. Veleno tried to end a guys career last year.
Perron tried to end a guys career this year.
Holl was a self sabotage pickup.
And Reimer is a garbage idiot.
So a little cleaning up in the ranks and you will make the playoffs next year.

  4. Why didn't they interview Raymond? Arguably wouldn't even be in this position almost coming back and making it to the playoffs if it weren't for him.

  5. It’s absolutely pathetic the Wings couldn’t win a single game without Larkin in that 7 game losing streak, he’s a great player and deserves a better team and coach around him.

  6. Man as a panthers fan, living in Michigan, I was really rooting for Detroit to see the post season and they played hard. A lot of lessons this year you guys will compete!

  7. as a bruins fan, Washington should not of made it when they made it in the first round I hope they actually lose in round 1 and get eliminated, I wanted to actually SEE Detroit IN THE playoffs.

  8. Stevie isnt building a team for making one playoff run. He's trying to build another DYNASTY. It takes years of draft, trade and free agents to find that kind of chemistry. Incremental improvements are there and we've got a young core and exciting prospects in the pipeline and good things WILL HAPPEN to restore former glories. It's hard to take 8 years of failure but Rome wasn't built in a day. Perspective: We have 4 cups last 30 years and Toronto has 0 in 57.

  9. It's hard not to point the finger at management for not bringing in help at deadline time. Both this season and last had potential to make the playoffs, and yet at trade deadline nothing happens🤔. Would have been different if Mr I were still alive.
Spend some money this season and give this city what it's been begging for.

  10. Can someone explain to me why the Flyers pulled their goalie in a tie game when the Wings had already tied it up with 3 seconds left? The Flyers were mathematically eliminated as soon as the Wings scored that goal.

  11. Wings had a great year. Disappointing to miss the playoffs because of a tie breaker. The future is very bright. Losing Larkin to injury for that seven skid cost them. He doesn’t go down they make the playoffs easy.

  12. Habs have a much better team than the RW. They need better PP coaching and to avoid major injuries. We keep talking about Habs reconstruction. How about the RW missing playoffs for the last 8 years…

  13. Not a wings fan but was rooting for them. They had a good season but unfortunately not good enough at times. I really thought they would get in and caps would fall. Last 2 games were such an amazing comeback story. Next year they’ll come back stronger,

  14. Canadiens did their best to help Wings gain a playoff spot – Primeau gave up 3 stinkers and true to form Habs couldn’t hold a lead

  15. they are an average team would not have gone far play sloppy in their own zone good teams don't lose 7 games in a row ho

  16. Don’t put yourself in that position and expect help from other teams. It’s very simple. You had your chances to beat Washington and failed.

  17. Would like to see more urgency in Feb. Can't lose 7 games in a row while sitting in a wild card position and expect to earn the playoffs……Two years in a row i felt there was a sense of comfortability. This falls on coaching ultimately, BUT this was a step forward and a great learning experience for a young team. #LGRW

  18. lol you guys acted like you won the cup beating the Habs. Also, someone needs to put springs n check, what’s with the gloating towards Habs fans? You weren’t even close. 😢

  19. Coaching staff needs to be replaced. Not enough fire coming from the bench. Also, losing to SJ & Arizona – not to mention Washington – is unacceptable
