RITCHIE NEVILLE – BETTER THINGS ARE COMING VILLA’S WAY – Five Star On Aston Villa, Career & Future

After the contentious decisions in our last outing against Manchester United in which we should have had a last minute penalty (if it was not for the terrible performance of the referee and VAR), we travel to Villa Park to take on an Aston Villa side who are sitting in fourth.

The Villa faithful are hoping they continue to Keep On Movin’ towards Europe under Unai Emery – a fellow Basque Country manager and friend of Andoni Iraola.

We have another very special guest. Craig Beazley is joined by Ritchie Neville from the band Five who had a number of hits during the 90’s and early 00’s with the likes of Slam Dunk (Da Funk), Everybody Get Up, Lets Dance and lots more!

We spoke to Ritchie about how he became an Aston Villa fan, how he joined the band, reaching Number 1 and performing with Queen legends Brian May and Roger Taylor at the BRIT awards in 2000.

We also discussed Rock in Rio in 2001, the band disbanding, Ritchie’s new venture with Liam Keegan – The 998 and loads more.

And is it true that the song Baby One More Time could have actually been on the album 5ive instead of being the debut single for Britney Spears in 1999?

Ritchie also discusses his favourite Villa players and the tremendous job that Unai Emery is doing this season and also discusses Profit & Sustainability Rules – also known as the dreaded PSR – and the effect it could have at Villa Park and why its not fair that Everton and Nottingham Forest are being hit but Manchester City and Chelsea get away free!

Enjoy this interview with one of the band members of one of Britains biggest boy bands of the 90’s and 00’s!

Thank you to Ritchie for his time and for joining us on this interview.

  1. I wish to correct Ritchie and say that the season that Aston Villa finished second was the inaugural Premier League season, won by Manchester United. Villa took 4 points off United that season but faltered near the end.
But apart from that, AWESOME interview!! Always liked Rich on Five, one of the better singers in the group!
