When it comes to a great hockey team being able to win the Stanley cup, it comes down to talent and luck, (getting the bounces).
When the talent makes better choices when it comes to several aspects of the game, passing shooting waiting etc… you will have better results. There's not a whole lot you can do about bounces…. Essentially it comes down to the players.
Danny the GM would make a much better coach. Danny played with integrity and knows more about the playing aspect then the coach. The coach was a good coach back in the day cuz he could relate better to the players but nowadays we have a different kind of athlete and he has said so himself that the athletes are different. John t is out of his element.
He is an old school teacher and I don't believe he is what this team needs now. The team that we saw on the ice when they lost eight games was a hockey team that was still working out their talent.
The head coach is a good coach or was a good coach back in the day but now he is out of his element. He kept saying how close Nit the guys were in the locker room but I would say that they need more work in that area also, you don't get that stuff over a season or two you get it when you've gone through three or five seasons with the same guys.
I am so proud of this team. The hard work that they put in. They in a rebuild, they should be in the basement of the NHL, and they all most made the playoffs. I'm happy. I think in the offseason they pick up a few missing pieces through free agency, and keeping working with their core talent. I can see a championship team in the making!
I met Travis Konecny away from the hockey rink and I asked him how things were going regarding his contract. He told me he has one more year on his current contract, and I told him that I hope Danny Briere offers him a good extension. Travis Konecny is a quality NHL player, and the Flyers need to find some good talented players to raise the bar on the offensive side of this team.
TK's demeanor is different than some of the others. He's a competitor. Losing sucks for him. His comment about a random Tuesday game is so right. Every game and every point matters. Team needs to learn that.
I can tangibly feel his disappointment each time he answers a question. I fucking respect it – it was a great season but no one is excited that today is what it is.
This is motivation to come into next season like a run-away freight train. We need a physical scoring winger, a 1B goalie, and let the rest continue to develop.
