  1. I bet Stevie wanted a second round pick, Iā€™m all for the rebuild and want as many picks as possible but Glendening is worth a lot to this team, so Iā€™m okay with Stevieā€™s decision

  2. Longtime red wings fan here and can confirm, AA was not worth a 1st rnd pick, 2 2nds is more than fair value for an inconsistent 1 dimensional player who was never really going to be part of the future/solution.

  3. Detroit should be fine in a few years, draft a star top 4, got a top 4 left shot defenseman 32nd overall (Ryan O'Rourke / Kaiden Guhle / Jake Sanderson) ext.. with the other two second-round picks hopefully get an energy right-handed forward like (Ozzy Wiesblatt / Kasper Simontaival / Justin Sourdif). Next year in the first round draft Star Goalie (Jesper Wallstedt)

  4. Yzerman shouldā€™ve been the one that ā€œheld firmā€. Itā€™s going to be real tough watching Athanasiou rack up the points in EDM, while weā€™re left holding a pair of late 2nd round picks.

  5. Red wings will stink for years to come. AA was fun to watch when he cut loose
Blashill had him on the defensive choker chain.

  6. Yeah, I donā€™t think Glendening is the type of player that we think absolutely has to go here in Detroit (like Ericsson). However, at this point in his career it would have been a win/win if he gets to go to a cup contender and weā€™re able to get some younger talent or good draft picks for him. Plus it would free up a roster spot for us to slot in a younger guy. Ideally probably someone like Veleno to line 2, and move Filppula and Nielsen both down one line.

  7. Glendening is a leader and just solid. His work ethic is a model for all the young players. He is the kind of guy you want on your back lines. He can retire a wing in my opinion. Luv him. If he was traded for anything less than a 2nd i would have been bothered. He probably won't get that kinda value so just keep him.
