Isles in 6 with the Roy factor!
I don't know why, but I feel like this series will be an upset win by the Islanders, something in my gut tells me that'll happen and I don't know why. 😅
I would have like to see some stats from last year's playoffs since I think carolina tends to hit way more in the playoffs than reg season
Go canes!
Canes in 7
Feels like? No its a definite, ISLES MUST STAY OUT OF THE BOX
Islanders needing to stay out of the box is gonna be a the bane of their existence again. PP and PK will be the difference maker in this series. Isles have a lot of talent, but they aren't the most disciplined team. I predict Aho on Aho crimes will be committed just like last year.
If this were a 15 or 21 game series I would say the Canes would be at least a 95% favorite. Needing only 4 wins it's not tough to imagine a few more great games by the Isles and a few off games by the Canes resulting in the upset.
even as an islanders fan this one is carolina's to lose. i'm excited for my boys in the playoffs and obviously have hope that they can go all the way, but they'll really need to be on their a++ game. that being said, no more 3 on 3 overtime will be huge for the isles👀
Canes in 4…..5 at the most.
Sebastian Aho vs Sebastian Aho will be he other matchup of the century
If Sebastian Aho commits penalty on Sebastian Aho, who will go to box?
My preseason pick was Avalanche over Rangers for the cup. But if I can change my pick after the season and before the playoffs, I'm going with Canes over Jets for the cup.
Isles have a surprising depth on offense this year. The Canes have that fearsome foursome D with Burns, Skjei, Pesce, and Slavin. This will be an interesting battle.
I love the hurricane warning flags on the stick. Hopefully, I'm able to catch a playoff game this season
If canes dont make SCF this year LOTS of noise need to be happening. Canes have this year and next if they dont win bye bye Rod the bod and itll be a yard sale.
Carolina in 5.
People writing off the Islanders so easily. It's so weird. Carolina don't have a solid playoff goalie. While the Islanders have one of the best goaltending duos of the decade in sorokin and varlomov. This will be the ultimate test for Carolinas new offense. It'll be very defensive close games all series, but Carolina will edge it out 4-3 most likely. This series has no chance of being a blowout.
As an isles fan I’m in hell. Another year of the SAME outcome. A loss in “6 hard fought games” giving us the delusion that this team is satisfactory. I expect more disappointment from our daddies in red and black. 4 series losses in 7 years to the Bunch of Jerks what a wonderful fate 😂😂😂
Well we SHOULD win. That’s all I’ll say
Canes in 5.
isles in6
Canes are an intimidating team, but I think if the stars align Isles can pull an upset. We have been getting better and better under Roy, and come playoff time, we might put it up a notch that we weren't able to last season and Barzal just returned from injury and didn't click as he did priorly with Horvat. Both are more settled now. Not to mention Dobson has stepped up this season in comparison to last season.
An arbitrary and subjective stat like hits is a weakness for a team that dominates defensively and shots allowed. Ok then.
This is the ONLY fair breakdown of this series on youtube. I have watched close to 10 of these breakdown videos and you are the only one who broke this down thoroughly.
Most of the other breakdowns didn't even mention Varly, bc they don't actually watch or follow the Isles so they just say "Sorokin will have to play….." Varly WILL start on Saturday!!
Islanders will UPSET. HOW? WHY ? PATRICK ROY.
If the Islanders win one game, consider that a big win.
This is probably not gonna happen but I'm gonna say Islanders in 6.
Players Carolina had in last years series that are no longer on the team:
Puljujarvi
Stastny
Stepan
Gostisbehere
De Haan
MacEachern
Raanta
Players Carolina did not have on the team for last years series vs the islanders that are now on the team:
Svechnikov
Guentzel
Kuznetsov
Teravainen
Andersen
Orlov
DeAngelo (extra)
Remind me, why exactly would this series be close if Carolina beat the isles with a bunch of AHLers playing for them last playoffs?
"How many Ahos do we have on this ship, anyhow!?"
canes in 7
That jersey is so ugly 😅
Carolina in 6
predicting it now: our penalty kill will be our downfall 😞
We have a ton of hits bc we never have the puck lol
I know that most people think the canes are gonna romp but please remember that the islanders have proven goaltending and a lot of players with strong playoff experience. They know how to drag a series into the mud and play the long game. The longer the series goes, the better the islanders chances get.
Canes take it at home game 5. 4-1
Islanders have a losing record. They shouldn't even be in the playoffs
Before I finish this vid, I must say that I believe the isles are going to be back to their spoiling ways this year, the way they've been playing to wrap up their season to me is similar to the Panthers last year, not say it's gunna be a deep run, but I think this year they will make every game a hard days work for the other teams and not let up
Canes in 5
Just an analytics thought. Records against playoff teams vs non playoff teams
Isles in 7
Hits is misleading.
If the team has the majority of puck possession, they will always have less hits. So, having a large number of hits could be a bad thing.
As a canes fan, I’m more worried about this series than any other team we could possibly face. The consensus here is that the Canes are the far superior team, which they are. But that’s what worries me. The isles are due for a series victory against the canes. If the isles stay out of the box, this will be a tight series. Especially if they can pull out a win in game 1 in NC. But if they get into penalty trouble, this will be a very short series. Also Varlomov can steal this series for sure. But I think the canes have so much fire power, that even if 2 guys who can score 25+ in a season get cold, they have 4 more to take over.
Also, I want to make it clear that the Canes are a VERY physical team if not one of the more physical teams in the league and will do just fine in this series. It’s been known they hand out hits like candy in NY. The canes don’t throw big or open ice hit but they forecheck really hard and throw their bodies around for 50/50 pucks. And they don’t shy away from the net on offense.
If you went one more season back in 2019 Canes swept Isle in 4.
I'm an Islanders fan. Happy we got in but not expecting too much. Carolina is really good and I feel like they smacked us around quite a bit over the years.
Hopefully I am wrong and they go on a crazy run. They have been so up and down this year it's really hard to say which team will show up.
Isles in 7
Payback time
As a Canes fan, only thing that worries me about this series is that during the season, the away team won every game.
