Button: ‘The Oilers know how to beat this Kings team’

TSN Director of Scouting Craig Button joins SC with Jay Onrait to question why the Oilers would play Stuart Skinner in the team’s regular season finale vs. the Avalanche and looks ahead to Edmonton’s first-round matchup with the Kings.

  1. Wow this take by Button is gonna age like expired milk. Kings in 6, book it.

(Of course there is always that less than 1% chance that the Oilers somehow pull out a quadruple overtime game 7 squeaker win, if so I will stand humbled.)

  2. Kings in 4. Skinner is a Prince Ruperts Drop. His lateral movement is sub-par and hes down to early to many times plus that high glove side is just open for business 27/7/365. I think the Oilers as a Team are far to undisciplined in terms of retaliation after the fact , that the Special Teams aspect may not be enough for them to beat the Kings because this dynamic will off-set PP and PK trends….there will be off-setting penalties more than usual due to the Maturity factor not being there in Game 1 and the Oilers will lose the 4×4 game…….in Game 2 Knoblauch will recognize the dynamic and he will switch and will play all Vets and get blown out….in Game 3 Skinner will start his 3rd Game which will end up being a Gond Show where they yank him and in Game 4 Pickard will hold them in a 2-1 loss. 4 up 4 down. Just like that. It is what happens when your Starting Goalie is banished to the AHL and you run with a Backup as your #1 Dog.

  3. The Oilers are being impacted by The Mumford Effect….. its really disconnected them from reality….taken them out of Lock-Step mentally…pacified them in the wrong ways because this is NHL Hockey not Basketball or Baseballl…..Mumford should have been muzzled because he has muddied the waters. Pacifist mentality in NHL Hockey leads to pent-up emotions and then Retaliatory Behaviours and PENALTIES…..methinks Mumford really was a bad idea.

  4. Amazing the collective stupidity in these comments. Yes, it's easy to say Kings in 5, Kings in 6, blah blah blah. Trajectory and recent history, say otherwise.

You people should stick to what you're good at. Filling orders at the drive thru you work at.

Now, I'll just take a couple soft tacos and a fries supreme, and make it snappy, or I'll be talking to your manager.
