For everyone who still hates Kakko, calls him a bust and wants him gone, here is a little something to think about: Even though everything that could go wrong did go wrong for #24 this season, he still had as many even strength goals as Mika Zibanejad this season. Let that sink in for a moment. Not only that, but he averaged 6&1/2 minutes less per game than Mika. Even if you account for PP time, he still averaged 4 minutes less than Zib. Oh yeah, he also had the same number of ES goals as Mika last season as well (if you add in Mika’s shorthanded goal.) Yet so many people keep taking cheap shots at Kakko, while giving Zibanejad a free pass. If the fans who want him gone called the shots, Laffy would have been gone last year too. Luckily they’re not in charge and both are still here. Next season will be a great one for Kaapo Kakko, as a member of the Rangers of somewhere else. They finally found the correct spot for Laffy to thrive, so hopefully the same happens for Kakko. I’d hate to see him break out elsewhere, bc that’s exactly what would happen if he were dealt. Finally, just sit back and think how many more points Laffy would’ve had this season if he had been given his well earned and deserved spot on the top PP unit. It just seems like certain players on the team can struggle or underachieve, yet still get all the prime PP time. Laffy had MORE THAN TWICE as many ES goals as Mika, yet he sits on the bench while Mika and the rest of the special ones get to pad their stats when the team goes on the PP. Give Laffy and Kakko the same opportunities as other top picks around the league and they’ll put up the numbers. It’s just so ridiculous how much of a hard time both have been given by some fans since they were drafted. Don’t expect them to match other number ones and twos when they don’t get the same ice time and PP opportunities as those others. Can’t wait till tomorrow to see Kaapo Kakko dominate in the postseason (if he’s not glued to the bench, that is.) LGR!!!!!
