My thoughts on Game 1 Canes vs Islanders. The game was boring. The Canes play a boring style of hockey. I liked how the Islanders play with their style of forecheck. The real star of Game 1 was the Canes goalie Frederick Andersen who kept them in the game. True the Canes won 3- 1. Are they the best team? I dont think so. I was not overly impressed. Are the Canes beatable ? Yes, they have just not run into a team that will beat them in the playoffs yet.
Canes played their worst game in a while and won. When they bring their A game the isles will be in trouble.
I thought the Islanders had at least 4 high danger chances that they failed to convert.
Nashville fan here, but I have a feeling we may be in for a repeat of the 2006 Stanley Cup Finals.
My thoughts on Game 1 Bruins vs Leafs. This was a more enjoyable game to watch than the Canes-Islanders game. I just like how both teams play cycling the puck. The game is fast paced which is what I like. The Bruins dominated the Leafs in scoring. The Leafs are very good in puck cycling but somehow they need guys at the front of the Bruins net, to tap pucks in. I am now questioning whether I should be putting tne Bruins higher in my ranking of teams as Stanley Cup contenders.
Huge win for the Canes. Too many people trying to will the Islanders into being this year's Panthers, so it's good for the Canes to get out ahead of that.
Palmieri got elbowed in the face before they gave penalty to him. 🤦♀️
Canes are glued to the boards again, this is our playoff game. It kind of stinks. I then watch a little bit of Boston, and they always have a center feed available to keep the pressure off the boards. It's absolutely incredible how good Carolina can be at times, but it kind of blows that they play so strange in the O-Zone for so many games in a row. I mean, they had hit a bit of a stride once they picked up Guentzel and Kuznetsov, but then a few weeks later they looked dead in the water. Every line looks like a checking line now, seriously.
Boy, 2 wastes of playoff series already. Hopefully, the Caps can put up a fight tomorrow. I know you said the Islanders were solid, but the Canes barely looked like they were trying…
If Kuznetsov can do what he did in the '18 playoffs the Canes might be unbeatable
close game. canes played 5min in the 3rd and got away with it. islanders were good at keeping that crowd silent for a while.

These refs suck! 2 of 3 penalties were bogus! No isle infraction, but 2 dives on canes players 2 leading to a goal!
Surprised you glossed over Freddie's desperation save on dobson. He doesn't make that save, the game could have gone a very different way.
This was a pretty evenly matched game, the only difference is that the Canes have better special teams. The Isles got the better of the Canes in shots, as they were very good at blocking them. That first Canes goal was rough because it was on a very soft call, but the Isles did a good job at staying in it. This series is pretty much going like I expected, just very low scoring and defensive
The playoffs are a great amplifier of a team's shortcomings. The Islanders played well structurally and Varlamov was solid, why did they lose? They lack forwards who can consistently finish, opportunities were plentiful and Brind'Amour was not happy with his team's performance. Unfortunately for the Islanders there isn't another gear they can kick into and Carolina can play a lot better than they did today, but for some Islander fans, the team made the postseason, so mission accomplished, mores the pity!

Canes, 2 dives result in 2 PP result in 1 goal, otherwise this is a 1-1 game going to OT!
If it were up to canes fans there would be 200 penalties called on any team they play!

I was at the game as a Canes fan. I thought the Islanders somewhat deserved to win tonight. Carolina was quite rusty from the layoff, and it affected their passing and overall game. Especially the second period, Carolina was playing the Islanders game instead of their own. To be honest, even though they outplayed us tonight in my view, I think the Islanders should be worried because of how solid a punch they delivered tonight without getting a victory. I guarantee that the Canes will have a better game 2, and if the Islanders can't win with a performance like they had tonight, when will they?
I Enjoyed seeing Kuzy get a goal and an assist.
Hurricanes are going to mercilessly flatten the Islanders. Series will be won by the canes 4-1
The first PP was a bit soft, I say that as a Canes fan, I'll also say that the Zebras must have recognized that because they did their damnedest to not call anything they absolutely didn't have to (like the delay of game) the rest of the game. Isles were definitely the better team for 2 periods and Freddie carried us. Canes came out in the 3rd Period and looked like they ought to. Someone else mentioned it here but Carolina is absolutely god awful this year anytime they are coming out of a break and it can take them a game or two to get back into the swing of things. I dont know if thats a player issue or a coaching issue but it's been noticeable.
