Guys! I think i may have finally figured out the meaning of that controversial “USA” chant at the Bruins game last night

Turns out, Boston is in the USA! That’s it… that’s literally all there is to it

What’s controversial about it? Just an American fan base chanting USA. Haven’t even seen anyone say it was controversial

  2. NightSong75

Canadians and Europeans are shaking at the mere mention of three letters said one after the other.

  3. PhilAggie1888

For over a century, the smartest people on Earth have failed to find logic and reason in the mind of a Bostonian.

    Pity them and move on.

  4. Fury_of_the_Cosmos

It’s just weird. This isn’t a battle of Nations.

  5. gekkolord

If you’ve been to Boston you wouldn’t be surprised by this news.

As a wrestling fan growing up in the 80’s, the USA chants will always be funny to me.

Just makes me think of Hacksaw Jim Duggan carrying the 2×4. Part of me wants to jump up and do his , thumbs up, tongue out, HOOOO!

  7. Hungry-Mammoth6036

I wouldn’t chant USA, but because Canada has dominated international games over USA, due to my jealousy I do enjoy not having Canadian teams win the cup since 93.

  8. PotentialUmpire3771

Not controversial, Americans just ain’t very bright

  9. donster217

Patriotism was practically invented in Boston circa 1773. This shouldn’t be surprising

Dude I’ve gone to resorts down south and the Americans always gather and chant USA

  11. People are really gonna beat this thing to hell lol

  12. denvercaniac

Canada is nothing but America’s attic and they know it!

Shiiiii, I’m trippin’. I thought I was living in Japan.

People sing something dumb, gets made fun of…

Why are people so triggered 😂😂

  16. SportsHubLTD

Pretty well all of bostons icons have been Canadian, and the Leafs’ current one is American. Average townie intelligence. What % of the league is Canadian vs American? Right

Who the hell is acting like this is strange? It happens all the time when a USA team faces a Canadian team in the playoffs. People acting like this is weird must be very new to hockey, or very new to watching playoff hockey.

  18. largeicedregular

We were chanting USA and singing Ole’ because it was FUNNY.
Hockey Reddit had no sense of humor and hates fun.

  19. I don’t know why anyone from either country would think anything of this. The best player on the Canadian team is from Arizona. The captain of the American team is from Nova Scotia.

    Ignorance exists everywhere.

It’s funny I’m a Canadian that lives south of the states

  21. Schwinston123456

    But… right? Map is accurate.

    I don’t get the outrage.

  22. If this is how I can piss off Leafs fans every time they invade Nationwide, I will absolutely do it. Thanks for the inspiration, Boston.

  23. mattcojo2

Yeah the people upset about that are absolute idiots.

The place they played in last night, is in America.

The team they root for is in America.

What’s the big fucking deal? “Oh the players…” they play on an AMERICAN TEAM it’s not about them.

Imagine if you got upset that the Alabama crimson tide chanted “Alabama” because not every player is from Alabama.

  24. CapriciousnArbitrary

Can we get a Canada sucks chant for game 2? That would be controversial.

  25. Isernogwattesnacken

On a scale of being Massholes this is very mid.

  26. Disasterator

Funnily enough, bruins captain = Canadian, Leafs captain = American

  27. xtzferocity

How is it controversial? Are people stupid? It’s a flex that the US markets win and Canada has the leafs

  28. CriticalAd3618

I understand why people think it’s dumb, considering people of all nationalities are on these teams.

But also we’re cheering the jerseys right? So like this post says, Toronto versus Boston. USA vs Canada.

But also it’s just a dumb chant, who cares?

I’m far far far far more offended that the Bruins faithful started the Ole chant. Keep that shit in Montreal for Gods sake
