Holy was that a stressful game. Habs fan cheering for the Jets this year. Not sure I realized what a heart attack I signed up for here.
They weathered the storm the first 10 mins or so , slowly got their game back. Probably hurt the first time they picked one out of the pile( lowery) wondered if warned they would take one earlier( could easily have been offsetting penalty)
As game went on it looked like the regular season games, Jets in control, but penalties let the Avs back in

as an avs fan I hope georgiev doesn't play another game for the avs. it's hursh but that's how I feel right now. nobody believes georgiev not fans not players (that's where mistakes are made).this was worst goalie performance I have seen from avs goalie during play off since they started to be competitive again. If they start georgiev whole series avs get swept.
The jets need to go back to their 90's jerseys. The current ones are boooooring.

I'm really tired of the defense being played in front of Georgiev (see Manson on goals 2, 3, and 7), and the Avs won't win the series if that continues. But yes, Annunen should and will start game 2, and likely game 3 and beyond. Those Jets fans are wild.

As a Blues fan this game really makes me more Thankful we have Binnington who helped win games for us. To the teams that dont have a very good goalie. Colorado was the Top scoring team but how many games did your goalie win you a game? A very good goalie will win you the cup. Leafs , Lanche , and oilers are short a top goalie. Cant hide your goalie in the playoffs.

jets got lucky. if they make this series a track meet with the avs they'll be out quickly, vezina winner or not. they won't win with that game. i remember two years ago in the cgy vs edm series, game one went 9-6 to calgary. they decided they could run and gun with the oilers and forgot how to play defense, and markstrom was every bit as bad as georgiev was today, and the flames didn't win another game. the jets need to tighten up their defense, and now. or they're screwed.
also, the avs will never win the cup with georgiev as their starting goalie. if they want to win this series, it has to be annunen in game two.
In my opinion as a hockey fan goalies particularly in the playoffs need to earn the next start. As an avalanche fan the only way georgiev should start another gamein this series if Annunen is sick or hurt bringing being able to play. Neither goalie stood on their head tonight but georgiev was BAD. Hopefully Annunen is better for game two because i don't know if we can getva win in this series without some competent net minding
If you outshoot Winnipeg 2 to 1 and score six goals on Connor Hellebuyck, you should win that game.
Georgiev wasn't good, but neither was the Avs defense. A couple of those goals were giveaways by Colorado. Helle wasn't great, either, so this could be a high-scoring, 7-gamer.
Scott oake asks lowry after the game about taking him back to the goal that made it 5-3 lmfao. I had NO idea which goal he was talking about, and im impressed lowry didnt seem confused at all either… 😅
I actually really liked this style of reffing in terms of consistency. It was easy to start to tell what would and wouldnt be called. Stick infractions absolutely. Cross checking essentially no calls at all, except a weird one with a roughing that made it 4on4 for a bit… So while fans didnt like some things, i also felt we got away with some stuff. Lowrys 5-3, post post goal was a great example. We completely bullied the avs off the puck. In the reg season I saw two penalties at least prior to the goal, the puck wound up on lowrys stick all alone, and even he seemed to be surprised he was allowed to continue playing lol
Interesting hits were dead even after 2 as well… And i forgot after all that crazyness only 1 goal in the zecond as well… A massive one looking back on a first and third tied at 3 goals each…

100% there needs to be a goaltending change. I would sign Matt Davis from DU today and tell him he is starting game 2 before I would put Georgiev back in net.

Pretty sure the Jets won 2 playoff games at home against the Oilers in 2021 considering it was a sweep. Unless that was the year it was hosted in the bubble, I can’t remember, the past few years have fried my brain.
As a Vegas fan, crazy to think that that game 1 of ours back in year 1 had been WPG’s last playoff home win before this one.
I dont think you should change goalie after just 1 game, totally shocks his confidence. Give him 1 more game atleast before thinking about changing imo
I find it funny that Winnipeg has a white out yet the away team is the team that wears white. If I was new to hockey I would think they were going for Colorado 🤭
Winnipeg did win their two home games in the first round in 2021… though the only fan to see it was a guy dressed up like a beer can.

I am a wild fan, and growing up Zach Parise was my favorite player. It was sweet to see him battle on the first line next to mackinnon on his quest for his first cup. I was happy for him and hope to see him do good
This game was amazing. Don’t have a dog in this hunt so it’s just great hockey to watch. Georgiev let in a couple softies but there was rlly nothing he could do against the Jets offense at times. Avs offense is sickening.

Didn't Winnipeg beat Edmonton in 2021 in the playoffs in Winnipeg? It was a sweep. I guess this is their first win at home in front of fans since 2018?
